I had the opportunity to participate in one of the most interesting and exciting capacity building workshop for basic school Headteacher in Sekyere Central District, Beposo Circuit. The topic: Becoming an Effective Manager of the the School was appropriate and timely. It was under the theme: School Management and Administration, the Headteachers Roles.

All Headteachers who participated in the training found it satisfying beaming with smiles. Though head teachers have been performing their roles in the various schools, there was the need for them to be reminded of how well they can manage their schools effectively. Head teachers were taken through their duties and responsibilities as well as the qualities of a good head teacher.

Head teachers who participated shared their thoughts on some of their roles they were performing in their schools and also gave some of the qualities that are expected of them. After head teachers and enumerated some of their qualities. Facilitators also shared their thoughts on the qualities of a good headteacher and also the various roles and responsibilities of a headteachers.

There was a snack break for participants to stretch off and immediately after that group discussions were held. Head teachers who participated were made to write the good things they were doing in their school that promotes effective teaching and learning.

After the group discussions group secretaries were made to present their work. Lots of new ideas were shared as how Head teachers were managing their schools. Facilitators also shared their views on some of the effective ways through which Head teachers can adopt to promote good teaching and learning.

In their concluding statements they admonished her teachers to be innovative and implement the new things that they have learnt and also exhibit your qualities that are expected of them as head teachers. Participants also thanked the facilitators for such a wonderful and informative discussion. Handouts were given to participants after the programme which was very good.
