The Functions of the Ocular Adnexa - Part One

Hello everyone,

How are you all doing, work as a service personnel and a research and teaching assistant has had me a little bit occupied than usual but you know I’m always gonna be with you.

I love the blockchain and it’s part of my life and my routine no matter what. Anyway so for the past few months now I’ve been mostly about helping the freshmen find their feet in the program and has been tutoring them about the eye in some courses.

And so I decided that whiles I’m doing this it is a great opportunity for me to share some of this knowledge with my family on the blockchain and so I want to do this series where we learn about the eye and it’s parts and functions.

The Eye

Since today is our introduction we ain’t gonna go deep and so let’s just take a quick look at what the eye is generally and the general function it performs and then in our subsequent lessons we will do the adnexa and any other details that may come up.

The eye is the organ within the body that allows us to see. It is responsible for our visual sense or sensation and it’s critical to our quality of life as humans. It is for this reason why we have to be particular about how we treat and care for it.

The eye is dual in nature and it’s located in the skull or within our head. Its dual nature gives us what we can binocular vision which has so many benefits which would be discussed somewhere in the future.

The eye aside helping us to see also has other functions that involves cooordination with our other systems to ensure the circadian cycle is kept, and some few other things which may not even necessarily center on the eye itself.

The eye has lots of mechanisms in place to protect itself and we would know these when we tackle the adnexa. When we look at someone’s eye the basic pets that can be identified include the cornea, pupil, sclera, lids, brows and lashes.

You can’t really see the tear film unless one is teary or emotional or crying so we wouldn’t add that, and the punctum has to be carefully looked for.

Wrapping up

So Yh thus introduction to the eye, next lesson will be on the exterior parts and their function, stay tune for more and I am really looking forward to you enjoying these sessions. The next time you visit your OD show some prowess haha. Thanks for your time and greetings to @daytona475 for the great work in science. Best of luck

I have enjoyed it. Very true the eye gives us sight and it performs a major function. I am learning to keep my eye safe bit by bit. Thanks for sharing friend.
