If I had 1 USD for each time I’ve been asked how to write that perfect post I could have bought a lot of STEEM.

Today I am going to answer you on your question and I promise you that I will not ask you any money. It is for FREE!

First things first. What is the difference between a post and an article?

There are two major difference, the word count and the style.

Post:	Article:
Are mainly used in Blogs	Are mainly used for reporting, information and statistics
Normally not more than 1,000 words	Normally more than 1,000 words
Blog post make use of keywords for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which enable them to go viral and are written online	Articles are mainly written in magazines, newspapers etc.
Blog posts results in interaction between readers as it is often the personal perspective of the users	Articles stay clear of personal opinions
Blog posts are more informal	Articles are more formal

My 12 points for writing a perfect post

I don’t like using the words “I” and “me” but this is what I do.
The experts out there will for sure have different viewpoints than mine.

1. I choose my topics wisely and I make sure the body of my post is relevant to the topic and it is my own work.


2. The heading of my post is the most important factor for me. Those words which will be read first. You all know what they say about first impressions, they are everlasting!


3. The second most important factor is my opening line. It is important for me to hook the reader and by doing this I will make sure he/she will stay and read to the very last word.


4. I keep the posts short but not less than 400 words. By doing this I make sure that I write enough and that my post is covered by curating criteria. The last thing you want to do is to create boredom by creating long articles. Always remember, less is more.


5. I make use of short paragraphs. I’ve seen many articles with more than 500 words and all in one paragraph.


6. I make use of bullet points. This makes reading so much easier and immediately you are highlighting the important facts and subsequently the reader’s attention are drawn to them.


7. I make sure the readers read with his/her eyes. I want them to “see” my post therefor it is of utmost importance to make use of eye catching images or photos. I like to keep my photos or images in a sequence. What I mean with this is that I will look for a set of two or three photographs from the same photographer which tells me a story.


8. I make use of at least 5 different mark down styles in one post.


9. I try to be different. And this is the only example I am going to give to you today. This will for sure proof to you that you can be different. My Post


10. I give the readers a reason to interact either by making a statement or asking a question.


11. I always do my post first in Word format so that I can check spelling, grammar and punctuation. Mark my words, even though I do this I often find mistakes after I have posted it. Check your posts after you have read it!


12. Lastly, I enjoy what I am doing!
