MOIMOI AND JOLLOF RICE RECIPE: NIGERIA MENU.

in SteemWomen Club3 years ago

Happy new week beautiful people and welcome to another food recipe post of mine. In case you've not read about the egusi soup I made in my last post, you can read it here.

We all love to eat good meal and lately I have been spending a lot of time in the kitchen, so I decided to start documenting it. I struggle with cooking for a long time, I just didn't like it and would always cook rubbish but before I left college, I pick interest in it and the journey keeps getting better. I will share with you in my post today how I made my moimoi and also Nigeria jollof rice.

MoiMoi Ingredients

  • Brown beans
  • Fish
  • Seasoning
  • Cray fish
  • Onions
  • Red chilli pepper
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Groundnut oil

Procedures

Moimoi is made from brown beans which is a good source of protein and also contain some carbohydrates. It's really a nutritious food common in my country Nigeria. Everyone one that lives in my country literal knows about this amazing meal. The first process of making moimoi is by peeling off the beans skin and the details on how I did that is written below:

  • There are two ways to peel off the beans skin, you either use your hand or blender, I used blender this time around. To peel off the beans skin, I soak the beans in water for 10 minutes then use my blender to peel it off, I poured the beans in the blender and use the pulse function in my blender to peel off the beans skin. This method is a very fast and easy way to peel off the beans skin

  • I washed out the chaff from the beans and blend the beans, the chilli pepper, ginger, garlic and onion together until it's very smooth because the smoothness of the blended beans will surely affect the outcome, so it's better the beans is blended until it's very smooth.

  • Now it's time to add the seasoning, crayfish, fish, salt, groundnut oil to the the mixture. To mix properly,i usually use warm water to mix the mixture. Mix very well until it's fluffy. Then I started adding it little by little in a water proof. MoiMoi is cooked by steam, so you can cook your moimoi in any container of your choice, I choose to use water proof to cook mine. Transfer the waterproof to a pot with water in it and cook for 30-40 minutes.

So I will briefly write about how to cook jollof rice I won't really go in details because I already shared a detail post on Nigerian jollof rice here, I am writing about the rice because I made it the same day as the moimoi.

Great recipe dear. Moimoi and Jolof rice go together. The method is simple as you have explained. Moimoi goes well and simple when you have a blender that can blend the beans. Thank you so much for sharing
