RE: ¿Qué está pasando en las calles de Venezuela? Una mirada desde adentro (Esp+Eng) What is happening on the streets of Venezuela? A look from the inside
Hi Pedro! There are many Venezuelan authors here who paint similar pictures. You are a keen observer ;-)) What you can do... I have no idea. Does anyone even care about you? Or are you – once again – just a means to an end, marginal figures who have to endure their supporting roles? Was Maduro's arrest actually about Cuba, as I currently suspect? Is your opposition organised in any way, does it have a practical plan, a plan B for your beautiful country...?
I wish you all the best for these turbulent times!
The Venezuelan political opposition is a historical disaster of alarming proportions. Many of those who have presented themselves as potential leaders have betrayed hopes, compromised with the ruling party, and so on, actively or passively supporting human rights violations, social exploitation, excessive repression, and all the other problems the ruling party has caused us over the last two decades.
What to do? Well, survive. I know that's not a plan, but a desperate statement of what we try to do every day.
There are supposedly Venezuelan political groups that are focusing on an alternative plan and working to make the transition as quick (and least traumatic) as possible. But I personally don't have clear information about them, and I've learned not to trust the speeches and promises of my country's politicians.
Thank you for pointing out that I'm a keen observer; it's something I used to pride myself on when I was younger. Retaining that trait after decades is a pleasant thing to hear.
