SLC31-W1: Shop & Share Challenge - Visit a Small Local Shop.

in Traveling Steemyesterday

Welcome to my blog. I am glad to be a part of shop and share challenge.

Shopping is a part of our daily living, at one point or the other, we always have need to buy one thing or another from small local shops around us and some other times from bigger stores.

Tell us why you chose that shop

Today I had need to buy knives from a local store around me. I had been wanting to purchase two knives that I wanted to use for content creation so I had to stroll on this evening to a local store around me that sells kitchen utensils.

When went to buy the knives, I saw one or two other shops around that sells kitchen utensils, but for the purpose of this contest, I had to look out for the one in which I could be able to get the pictures required.

Some persons are not comfortable with you taking pictures even when you request their permission. I needed the shop that would afford me the opportunity I need and also the ones that would really have what I needed.

This shop is located beside my place at No 1 Akinwale street bariga Lagos state. It’s in a strategic position and one that can be easily located.

Here I have captured some pictures of the inside and outside of the shop alongside with a selfie of me in front of the shop.

The price of the item you purchased from the shop.

The item I purchased was two knives. I had a specific color of knife that I wanted to buy. I wanted a red headed and also a black headed knives. I also wanted the ones with a strong blade that won’t easily bend on usage or have the nuts loose quickly like some usually do.

I bought the knives for one thousand Naira each making it a total of two thousand Naira for the two of them. Because the shop is a local street shop, they do not give receipts to show proof of payment but I snapped the money I gave to the woman before paying her as a proof of the payment I made for the knives.

Your shopping experience

I saw one or two to her shops like I said before I came to this particular shop. The knives I actually bought didn’t have the exact specifications I had in mind. When I got talking with the woman initially she wasn’t really that friendly in attending to me.

It seemed like someone pissed her off. She didn’t really give me that good customer vibe. So I left her shop to see if I will really see what I wanted but the other shops didn’t have it too and what they had was way higher in price than what I wanted so I had no choice than to go back to the first shop.

On going back she was still acting indifferent and when I asked her to give me some discount, she refused and said it was the last price. I had no choice than to buy it like that. Despite her non challant attitude. She didn’t have issues with me taking pictures as I shopped with her. I guess she wasn’t just in a good mood.

What do you think the shop or store owner needs to do to expand his or her business and tell us if the business is lagging in patronage.

The shop I bought the knives from is a small one but the goods were arranged in an orderly manner and the layout was nice, the type that would actually attract people to buy.

The shop doesn’t really lack patronage cos before I came, she had some people buying things from her too and anytime I pass, I always see people buy from her.

I think that she would need to do better at her customer service because if I had other options that had exactly what I needed, having considered how she treated me, I would not have bought from her. I couldn’t get a video because of her attitude.

I think she really needs to expand her business through more funding obviously so as to be able to get more varieties of the goods she’s selling. She didn’t have the spec of the knives I wanted and because of that I had to settle for what’s available as against what’s really desirable.

Review:
The store which is inside a market is a great place for shopping, and I recommend your effort to visit her store. I was told things are cheaper in Lagos State compared to Abuja and other places in Nigeria. Business expansion is what every business owner desires, the problem she might have raising funds outside might be paying back on time which can lead to an increase in interest.
