Hello friends, today I would like to talk to you about the Forra road, a spectacular panoramic road that connects the shore of Lake Garda with the Pieve di Tremosine sul Garda plateau at about 300 meters above sea level. In fact, this road winds through this series of canyons created by water erosion on the limestone rock built around 1913.

This road was built to connect Tremosine and break its isolation, so it was a decidedly difficult and even extreme job. Also because you have to consider that to build the road they only used mines and explosives and the workers were suspended on ropes in very dangerous conditions so you have to think about the human ingenuity to build it because it was embedded in the rock and it was one of the extraordinary engineering works for the time.

This road became famous during the twentieth century precisely because Winston Churchill in the 1940s more or less defined it as the eighth wonder of the world and then it became a very popular destination for numerous travellers, writers and motorcyclists, and even today there are many motorcyclists who come here precisely to take this characteristic very panoramic tour, even if unfortunately in recent years it has been closed several times precisely because in certain places it risks collapsing.
A James Bond movie Quantum of Solace was filmed here in 2008 but I think other movies have been filmed there too. There are always chase scenes though. That's why they make it one of the most iconic streets in the world.

the distance of this road is about 5-6 km between the lake and Tremosine and starts from about 65 meters above the lake and goes up to 400 m. It is reached from the Provincial Road 38 connected to the Western Gardesana road. It must be travelled by motorbike or car because it is forbidden to pedestrians. In fact, I only stopped at the point where you can stop, but in reality it has been restored simply with a one-way system uphill after the various reclamation works that have been carried out.

I hope these photos were interesting, I hope my story was interesting too. If you happen to be in those parts, in my opinion it is an excellent attraction. Also because it takes you to a panoramic terrace from which you can enjoy one of the best views of Garda in my opinion, so I hope I have given you some good tips for your next trip.
