My Actifit Report Card: December 3 2022

My friend and I played a difficult eighteen-hole disc golf course today. Scores were +17 and +33. I did a bit worse than the last time that I played the course when I got a +10. The conditions were not as nice in the first part of the round and it was a bit cold. One of these days I would like to do better than a +10 (which is my personal best on this course.)

I have at one time or another, played each hole on the course at par or better. I just have not done that in the same round. There are a lot of things that have to go right for a good score on the course.

The nice thing is that neither of us lost anything and we did manage to mostly play on the fairway. This is a remarkable improvement from when I first started playing.

It warmed up and the sun came out on hole-twelve:

Hole-twelve has often caused me problems. On the left side is a swampy out-of-bounds area that hides discs. Just to the right by the edge of the picture is a big bramble bush hedge that you don't want to play out of. Going too straight or slightly right puts you in the middle of some trees that are difficult to play out of.

I managed to make an easy par today by using a fairway driver. A distance driver is difficult to control on this hole because you don't want to fade too far to the left on a right-hand backhand throw.

Some nice sunlight was coming through the trees on hole-seventeen:

You can just see the basket protected by the trees. This is a difficult hole to par because of the swampy "valley of lost discs" to the left of the tee pad. A backhand turnover throw can be very dangerous. Missing the basket often causes the disc to roll down a thirty-foot hill and end up out-of-bounds in a swamp.
