Life is stressful. Usually our minds get tired due to the pressure of work, personal problems and worries about the future. But we can’t stop living. In dealing with this stress I’ve built some habits to help feel light and happy. Not only do these habits help reduce my stress, they help me love life again.
Natural thing is like my best friend. When my head feels chaotic i spend time with nature. Garden on my rooftop,green grass in a park, the calm pond in a village, these places feel peace to me. The cool breeze and rustling leaves and the chirping birds that put peace in my heart. when the evening sun gets soft and the air feels fresh and I feel like I set myself to be somehow somewhere that is not this busy world. I feel so much lighter in my mind when these moments come.
I feel like music is my medicine. If I feel too stressed I play my favorite songs. All kinds of music makes me feel better, be it Rabindra Sangeet, old Bengali tunes, English pop and rock. Putting my headphones in and shutting my eyes, worrying about nothing. Sometimes hum along with the songs giving me a feeling of even a more relaxed one.
Another way I take care of stress is reading books. When read a book it feels like I have stepped into a new world. Especially poetry calms me down. Reading Jibanananda Das’s “Banalata Sen” gives me an idea of how beautiful life can be. But when I read an adventure novel, I want to be adventuring with the characters in that book. Those are the times my worries disappear.

Movies and series help me relax too. My favourite type of movies is light comedy ones because they make me laugh and one of the best ways to forget my stress . I like to watch movies that are about a story type, thriller and adventure. They take me to new world . I believe that these stories changed my perspective of life.
Drawing and painting are also great ways for me to be feel better. Whenever I start to work with my colored pencils all my worries seem to fall away. I like to draw scenes of nature or something new in colours. I find this creative activity that calms my mind and makes me happy.
They are the way I connect with myself. Patience and beauty I see from nature, music calms my mind, books take me to another world, movies offer me new ideas and through drawing I fill myself with creativity.
Stress can’t be avoided in life, but these small habits will make it a bit easier to deal with. They don’t only reduce my stress, but they also remind me to love life.
