In Nigeria, the most popular saying is "What an old man sees while lying down, a young man can never see even when he climbs up in a tree." This means what an elderly person has seen and experienced in his life it would take a young person so many years to experience it even if the young person tries to bypass his way. This is a saying that parents often use to advise their children most especially the stubborn ones.

✓What are your favorite sayings and when do you usually say them?

My favorite sayings are: "Seeing is better than hearing" and "Fine words do not produce food" are my favorite sayings which I usually say whenever someone is trying to gossip about another person. People like talking and spreading rumors and anytime someone is about to start gossiping or feeding me with lies I will just quote the saying to him or her.

✓Of the proverbs you usually say, which one has the most lessons?

It is the seeing is better than hearing that has the most lessons. The proverbs are all about telling someone that it is better to see someone before concluding what people are saying about the thing. Seeing makes us believe and concur with whatever we hear.

✓Do you think that proverbs can be an effective way to transmit teachings to new generations?

Yes, I do think proverbs can be an effective way to transmit teachings to a new generation which is even what my dad is using to teach us at home. My day loved quoting proverbs in every one of his speeches whenever he quotes a proverb we will begin searching for the meaning of the proverbs which we will end up learning from his proverbs. Proverbs is a way to transmit teachings to new generations which I have experienced myself.
