Hello Steemian Friends!

I’m Samia Jannate from Bangladesh.
I’m really glad that I participated in this amazing contest.
I come from Bangladesh. In my country, everyone believes in proverbs. But at this time someone doesn't believe it. I want to tell you one thing: I believe proverbs are true; they reflect the culture and traditions. I hear the proverbs from my mom, my grandmother, and my other family members. Proverbs provide specific lessons and advice.

Let's explore the most common proverbs in Bangladesh.

What is the most popular saying in your country?

There are many proverbs in Bangladesh. The most popular saying in my country are:

As you sow, so shall you reap.

In Bangladesh, we say that (Jemon kormo temon foll") means what you will do based on that to get the result. Another common proverb is.

If you can’t dance, blame the courtyard.

In Bangladesh, we say that (Naste na janle utan baka): that means if you have no idea how to do this, don’t be over-smart, and ultimately this result will be negative.I share a third common proverb that

Emphasizes the importance of listening to elders.

That means when we are not learning or without accepting senior advice, we face trouble doing the work that they advise us to do. Also has many problems; these are: Too much cleverness can lead to downfall; catching the moon with your hand.

What are your favorite sayings, and when do you usually say them?

I have three favorite proverbs. I share one by one.

First

This is what happens when you don’t listen to your elders: Most of the time my sister said to me when I didn’t listen to her advice. From childhood to the present, she also poked me for this proverb. Now I also told this proverb to my nephew and other younger family members.

Second

As you sow, so shall you reap: This proverb represents our actions; activities also work. If we are not done with our work, we never get the expected results, so I truly believe this proverb that as you sow, so you reap. I usually say this proverb with my friends and also my nephew.

Third

Too much cleverness can lead to downfall. Sometimes we show others that we know everything, but at the end everyone understands our true personality. So this makes the person feel shame and never do it again. So when people show over smart in front of me, then I say this proverb.

Of the proverbs you usually say, which one has the most lessons?

I usually say, “As you sow, so shall you reap,” because I believe in hard work. Who thinks that success is achieved by the short-cut method and copying other works that proverb is most useful for them? and illegal way we never be successful in our life.

Do you think that proverbs can be an effective way to transmit teachings to new generations?

Definitely, I think that proverbs can be an effective way to transmit teaching to a new generation. In Bangladesh, proverbs are used for giving important lessons in a simple and good manner. And this proverb is easy to remember, also making it an important tool for teaching.

For example, when you say, “A stitch in time saves nine,"it teaches the importance of timely action. This proverb says this by giving the important lesson of understanding the responsibility and value of time and action.

Another example I share is that"the head that rises too high may end up in a noose."Now this proverb is used for our generation to teach them to stay humble and to remind them that pride often leads to a downfall.

In the modern world, proverbs remain powerful. When our older generation shares this proverb, it may be we’re not paying attention too much, but now we understand this proverb's value and importance in our daily life

Conclusion

In Bangladesh, proverbs are not just words but also carry a powerful meaning and lesson. and it’s a better way of transmitting our life, cultural values, and traditions.

I would like to invite @mariamadri @xfakenews @muthu14 to participate in this contest.

The saying

"Reap what you sow"

is used in a different way in my country. That's why it immediately caught my eye. It is stated in my country like this:

"You reap what you sow"

There are many similarities in both these sayings but they have two meanings. I wish you success.💐💪
