Steem Cameroon Contest - International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction (Bangladesh)

Hello friends Assalamu Alaikum,
At present, due to climate change, we are affected by natural disasters every year in which there are huge losses and loss of life. The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is observed on October 13 to raise awareness of various activities and people to avoid or reduce it. It was established by the United Nations. Today I am going to write about this risk reduction and invite you @muksa @jimiaera02 @sinthiyaa.

The purpose of celebrating this day is known or understood by everyone as it is a day to reduce natural calamities. It is important to reduce the damage and loss of life in the country in disasters and increase awareness by predicting disasters and evacuating people from those areas or providing permanent solutions such as river banks, and what to do during natural disasters. This day is to create awareness about natural disasters and the natural causes that can be done to reduce natural disasters.

Give a brief description of your mascot.

The above mascot by Canva shows houses being submerged by heavy rains due to lack of modern drainage systems and unknowingly blocking drainage systems by people throwing garbage causes flooding and turns into a man-made natural disaster for the common man. Most of the rivers in our country are losing their navigability.

Again, excess storms and floods are man-made deforestation and deforestation, making people more vulnerable to natural disasters.

What change do you think this day brought about in your community?

I am from Bangladesh every year natural calamities in our country especially flood and river erosion and many houses are washed away in the river has reduced a lot because the government is now taking sustainable measures. Awareness is coming among the people, they are planting trees and protecting the forests, helping to reduce a lot of damage from natural calamities. Change has begun but many people are yet to become aware of those responsible for climate change.

Who are the active promoters, and what do you think could be added to make more of an impact in your community?

It is an international day, surely the United Nations and non-governmental organizations are doing a great job to spread this day among the people of every country. To avoid climate change in our country, education is imparted to the students to protect the environment in the educational institutions. I think there is a need to promote awareness among all people to reduce natural disasters and bring sustainable solutions to flood affected areas.
