Hi my amazing Steemians!! 🌼
Blessed day to you and your loved ones. I hope your weekend is going smoothly and beautifully. Mine has been quite eventful, and yesterday in particular was one of those days filled with meaningful moments, movement, and memories.

Let me take you on a little journey through how my day unfolded… ✨
I woke up to such a calm and refreshing morning the kind of weather that instantly puts you in a good mood. I already had plans for the day, as I was to attend the burial ceremony of a church member’s mother. Since it was sanitation day here in Uyo and movements were restricted until 10am, I decided to make good use of that time by doing some house chores. There’s something satisfying about starting your day with a clean and organized space, don’t you think?
After finishing up, I took my bath, got dressed, and prepared for the outing. We had agreed to go as a group to support our sister, so our meeting point was at the church.

When I arrived, I noticed the compound was buzzing with activities. Weekends there are always lively burials, traditional marriages, sports… it was like a mini event center! Interestingly, I had also been invited to a wedding happening at the same venue by one of my customers (the one I usually buy garri from), but unfortunately, I couldn’t attend. I silently wished her a blissful and blessed marriage from afar 💍.

I soon found my group, and we began rehearsals since we were scheduled to sing at the event. After rehearsing, we relaxed a bit, enjoying some lively music from a nearby sound system while waiting for transportation. The atmosphere was vibrant and full of life.

After a while, a mini bus arrived, but it could only take a few people. Luckily, a kind sister invited me to join her in their car. We picked up a few more people along the way, and then began our journey to Essien-Udim. The road was surprisingly smooth no stress, no delays just a peaceful ride.

We got to the venue a bit late, but we settled in quickly. The service had already begun, and we listened to gospel ministration, heartfelt condolence messages, and touching testimonies about the deceased. It was truly moving to hear how impactful her life had been. Moments like that remind you how precious life is.

Food was served later (and yes, it was delicious 😋), and just as we started eating, the rain began to fall. It had been threatening earlier during the service, and we all silently hoped it would hold off but eventually, it poured heavily. Thankfully, the burial had already been concluded.
Since the rain didn’t stop immediately, we stayed back and witnessed something truly remarkable. The women came out under the rain and began to perform singing, dancing, even acting out dramatic presentations. Their energy and joy despite the heavy rain were inspiring! They even shared powder as part of the cultural display. It was such a beautiful expression of tradition and strength.

They were also cultural dancers that also made the event colorful they came showing beautiful dance step.

Eventually, the rain reduced, and we quickly made our way into the car and headed home. By the time I got back, I was full, tired, and all I wanted was sleep . Not long after, a sister called me to join an online meeting, but my network was acting up badly. I tried for a bit, but it just wasn’t working, so I switched off my data and gave in to the sleep my body was craving.
And honestly… it was worth it. It was a full, beautiful day one of those days that leaves you tired but grateful 💛
