Cameroon’s Triumph Over China Raises Hope and Questions.

Hi guys, accept warm Steem greetings from the motherland of Cameroon, and welcome to my blog, where I'm gonna share my thoughts on the international friendly game between Cameroon and the People's Republic of China.

The early hours of today started on a calm note as many of us eased into the Easter holiday mood. Still, that quiet atmosphere quickly gave way to excitement as Cameroon faced the People’s Republic of China in an international friendly that kept fans glued to their screens.

Coming into this match, expectations were mixed. The previous friendly against Austria exposed serious weaknesses in the squad, with Cameroon looking unusually vulnerable and lacking cohesion. That defeat did not just hurt on the scoreboard, it sparked heavy criticism online, especially directed at coach David Pagou. Questions about his tactical decisions, squad selection, and overall leadership began to dominate conversations among fans.

But today told a different story and of course, criticism will continue because we are just being humans hehehe.

From the opening whistle, Cameroon showed a renewed sense of urgency and purpose. The tempo was higher, the passing more intentional, and the attacking movement far more coordinated. This early dominance paid off, as the Indomitable Lions secured a 2-goal lead in the first half. It was the kind of response fans had been hoping for, a team that looked confident, aggressive, and determined to prove a point.

However, the second half introduced a new layer of complexity. China made several tactical changes, bringing in fresh legs and adjusting its structure. This shift allowed them to gain more control of the game and test Cameroon’s defensive resilience. For a moment, it felt like the momentum might swing.

Then came one of the most talked-about moments of the match: David Pagou receiving a red card. His dismissal added pressure on the technical bench, forcing the assistant coach to step in and manage the remainder of the game. Situations like this can easily destabilise a team, but Cameroon showed surprising composure under these circumstances.

As the match progressed, tension increased, and another red card was issued late in the game, this time affecting Cameroon on the pitch. Reduced to ten men, the Lions had to dig deep, relying on discipline, defensive organisation, and sheer determination to hold their lead.

Despite the setbacks, Cameroon held on to secure the win, a result that brought joy and relief to many fans back home. It was more than just a victory, to us it was a statement of resilience and a glimpse of what this squad is capable of when everything clicks.

That said, the debate around David Pagou is far from over. While today’s performance showed tactical improvement and better team spirit, some supporters remain unconvinced about his ability to lead the team in major international competitions. Consistency will be key to convincing many supporters. I’m a second thought, one good match cannot erase lingering doubts built over time.

Looking at the current squad, there is clear potential. The blend of energy, attacking intent, and moments of discipline suggests that this team can grow into a strong unit. However, issues like game management, discipline (as seen with the red cards), and adaptability under pressure still need attention.

So the big question remains: is this the turning point for Cameroon, or just a temporary spark?

Make we talk !!!! What do you think about this squad and the direction under Pagou? Can this team go far, or are we just managing expectations for now?
