Creating My Own Recipe: Plantain Mixed.

in Steem Cameroon3 days ago

Steem greetings @everyone, and I hope we are all doing well in our various locations. It has been an amazing week and today I want to start the week with creating my own recipes.

On this day, I was not feeling well and needed something that will not cost me a lot of time I’m the kitchen. For those who know Cameroon delicacies, it takes a lot of time to prepare most Cameroon delicacies.

My Plantain mix ready to consume.

For this my combo plantain mix, initially I wanted to prepare pork sauce with “tape tape” plantain. Along the way I realised it will take me more time to prepare it which I was not in a good health mood to stand in the kitchen for long. I decided to create my own recipe which was so delicious and less time cooking.

The Ingredients Used
  • Half ripe Plantain
  • 5 garlics
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/2 tsp of white pepper
  • 3 njansa
  • 1/2 tsp of thyme and black pepper
  • a sachet of cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 kg of fresh pork meat
  • 2 cubes Maggi
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • Vegetable leaves
  • Vegetable Oil
Preparation Process

The first step, I removed my pork from the fridge over night and allow it to properly defrost on its own. It is not good to forcefully defrost pork. I placed it on my chopping board to cut into desirable slices.

Pork Meat

After cutting the pork into desirable slices, I washed it properly with clean tuning tap water. And heat up my cooker and placed the pork meat to cook. I boiled it at high heat. I added some Maggi cube and salt to give it a unique taste.

Started boiling the pork.

While the pork was boiling, I prepared some other ingredients like garlics, white pepper, thyme, njansa and black pepper to grind. At this point we experienced blackout and I could not use the blender to blend the ingredients to save me the stress grinding on the local grinding stone. I had no other choice but to go the local way.

I added the grind spices into the already boiling pork meat and allow to simmer for about 5 minutes. Note that pork meat does not take long time to cook.

I took my half ripe plantains, peeled off the peelings and cut into halves and washed properly with clean water.

I put the washed plantains into the already boiling pork. Took my onions, peeled and washed, then sliced it into the pot and added a sachet of cinnamon powder. I also added contri onion as appetiser because I felt like I lost appetite. The contri onion will help to boost my appetite. I added half a cup of pure vegetable oil, and fresh sliced vegetable leaves and allow it to simmer and the food was ready to be served.

All ingredients set and ready to continue boiling at normal heat for about 20 minutes

Since it was half ripe plantain, it took less than 45 minutes for the food to be ready to eat. I served myself a plate and my kids enjoyed it.

The plantain combo was mouth watering

Why Try this Plantain Combo.
  • The combination of native herbs made the food healthy to be consumed by anyone.

  • The contri onion is a good booster of appetite. If you or your kids have lost appetite, try this plantain combo with contri onion.

  • It is a well balanced meal with plantains providing iron to strengthened your bones, meat providing proteins, vegetable, etc.

  • The native herbs in the meal contains antioxidants properties which helps to boost our immune system and fight common diseases.

In sum, to me, cooking has no formula, and why not try to create new recipes. It was a nice try and in the days ahead, I will continue to try new recipes.
