My first Kdrama; My Love From Another Star movie Review by @graciella

Hello hello movie lovers and beautiful people. Hope we all are doing well today. Happy lover's week if that's a thing, today I'll love to share with you a review of the first kdrama i ever watched titled MY LOVE FROM ANOTHER STAR

Back in 2013 this korean romantic drama of an alien and celebrity made a huge wave not just in South Korea but also around the world winning a lot of awards and whatever comes with movie popularity. Philippines even had to act theirs in 2017 same title, same plot, same story just a few differences although I'm still to watch it.

Well it's only recently I watched the film like probably 6 months ago😂 but I see why it made such a big hit and I'd be doing a review today cause I know you haven't watched it or probably any kdrama.

The story begins in the Joseon era where an alien ship landed on earth in 1609. 400 years later Do Min-Joon is the alien but looks very human, young, handsome and hasn’t aged since then.

Professor Do Min-joon

He is currently a professor who lives an isolated life with just one friend acting also as his father and is aware of his real identity. On the other hand, Cheon Song-Yi is a blunt, famous and pretty actress struggling with her career plus many anti-fans. She moves to another apartment and is next door to Do Min-Joon’s apartment complex and their love story begins. From the alien being unable to sleep cause of his super hearing to mrs celebrity singing loudly in her apartment, to her getting drunk and entering his apartment and all that.

Drunk Cheong Song-yi

He tries his best to stay out of her crazy life but they keep running into each other. They slowly fall in love, Do Min-Joons time on earth is slowly coming to an end as his ship is soon arriving but no matter how he tries he finds himself loving her despite his time to go drawing near. Soon things begin to get dangerous as the villain with has deadly intentions against Cheong Song-Yi and only he can protect her and soon real romance begins between the +400year old alien professor and the crazy actress.

Long story short, he tells her the truth at some point in order to scare her away as it's always been in the past, she doesn't leave, his powers start acting up(teleportation, extra hearing, stoping time etc) since his time gets closer, he helps her get out of danger from the villain and puts him where he belongs revealing who he truly is to everyone and one day he vanishes😂.

But them he finds a way to come back after a couple of years but can't stay long and I guess they live happily ever after with him being able to stay longer than the last time.

Well it's a long story, 20 whole epidodes so don't mind me mixing up everything and not even mentioning other people like the guy who has been asking our lead actress out for 15years, her best friend who is jealous of her for always been the lead, her mom who is using her cause she is famous and the rest.

There are plenty of silly, sweet, funny and also emotional moments in this drama. The beginning may start slow but the progression is quick and has a great plot. The actors portraying each character is perfectly fit.

Kim Soo-hyun

We have Kim So-Hyun who plays the alien named Do Min-Joon. He quite popular in Koream after gaining grounds from another drama in 2011 titled Dream High and 2012 Sun Embracimg the Moon drama. His character Do Min-Joon is a quiet, closed-off person looking like he’s in his twenties but acts like someone with wisdom and experience of the seventies although his over 400years old. He complains ofter about the modern world, changes etc and much of his character goes around how he lived all those years in a small bubble he created, the joy and pain of finally connecting with someone causing him to realize how lonely he made his world. Oh before I forget each time they kiss he gets very sick😂😂😂 cause according to him it's been like that every since and there's this one scene he teleports infront of people forgetting it's a secret after he got drunk reason why he never drinks alcohol.

Jeon Ji-Hyun

For Jeon Ji-Hyun who pays the crazy actress Cheong Song-yi, she's also a popular actress, funny and sweet. I've seen her in legend of the blue sea as a very stupid mermaid who went to Seoul to find some guy he fell in love with in Spain. Her character is emotional, funny and sort of relatable. At first she looked like a bratty narcissistic star but later find out she struggles with loneliness, hate comments, anti fans and family issues. A lot of funny moments with her from her rap attempts to accusing Min-Joon of stealing her shoes, to her getting drunk and doing all sort of crazy things, she defined shined.

Lee Jae-Kyung who is the story's villain was kinda fun too, from his expressive looks, to sinister smile and classes with Min-Joon.

We also have Lee Hee-kyung who has been asking Cheong Song-yi out for over 15years since high school yet stands by her as a friend no matter what and especially acts responsible by helping taking his brother down after discovering what he truly is. Cheong Song-yi's best friend is also in love with him since the same 15years + and he tries to help her get over it as her best friend too.

The show plays on an emotional theme of acceptance, separation, individual needs and also making the best possible use of the time you have.

If you got time, I recommend you watch it. I really couldn't summarize it well but overall it's a great drama. Hopefully next time I'll review legend of the blue sea or its okay to not be okay or some thai BL drama I watched recently. Until then bye and thanks for your time...
