Greetings friends!!

Last Sunday (12.05.2024) was the annual temple inauguration day celebration of Baba Panchanan who has been worshipped as both Lord Shiva and Devi Chandimata in same idol. There's also special celebration on Ashar Nabami in the shuklapaksh.

The temple is known to be three hundred years old as we come to know from fourth generation purohit Sri Ranadev Bhattacharya's (official priest) of the temple.

There was a kapalik who used worship the sacred stone (Kosti Pathar Sila) as Panchanan baba. Then the temple was very small with hatched roof and mud wall.

Sri Ranadev Bhattacharya's great grand father Ishwar Chandra Bhattacharya was appointed as the priest of the temple by owners of the premises belonging to Halder. Afterwards his grandfather Bholenath bhattacharya collected donation from people of the locality to renovate the temple and established the permanent structure and a Panchanan idol was established.

In the year 1950 the present idol was fabricated by the clay artist Ganta Karma Paul. During that time a Ishwar Pachanan Thakur Sangha was formed to manage the temple function. Annually there are many functions held in temple premises, such as Gita yagya and Chandi yagya. There are special worship held throughout the year. Bipad Tarini Puja and Mangal Chandi Puja are also held here. Ranadev's father Basudev bhattacharya was also born in the temple premises. About ten years ago again a major renovation was done. Now there is a wide opening to see all the idols of temple at a time.

Normally they used to conduct many darama, Kirtan, Bhajan in the ground of the temple. Many renowned person have performed here. But due to sudden demise of the Secretary of the Sangha they have keep the celebration profile low. There were restrictions of bhog distribution for the availablity of disposable fund.
