The Diary Game: [17/06/2026] My Comprehensive Day

Last night wasn't exactly peaceful. Sleep seemed to be playing hide and seek with me, and no matter how much I tried to rest, my mind refused to settle. After tossing and turning for what felt like forever, I decided that if sleep wouldn't come to me, then I would go looking for something else to occupy my mind. So I decided to go for a jog. That's how my day started. The morning air was cool and refreshing, carrying a calmness that my restless mind desperately needed. I would have loved to capture some pictures from the run, maybe a few shots of the sunrise or a quick selfie to mark the moment, but in my hurry, I had forgotten my phone at home. I was able to complete some reps tho from pushup and sit ups. Been a while I felt like I could fight anybody. I felt stronger than I had in weeks. The adrenaline rushing through me was incredible.

By the time I got home, my muscles were alive, all up and standing, but my body was exhausted. I headed straight for the bathroom and took a refreshing shower. When I stepped out to my room, my bed became the most attractive thing in the world and I practically fell onto it. Ironically, the sleep that had abandoned me earlier suddenly returned. It wrapped itself around me like a warm blanket, tempting me to close my eyes for just a few minutes. But I had school waiting, and responsibilities don't care whether you're tired or not. So I fought the urge, laid there for about thirty minutes to recover some energy, and eventually dragged myself back to my feet.

I went to school on an empty stomach yesterday, and believe me when I say it was very devastating. I had suffered through lectures with a growling stomach, and I wasn't about to repeat that mistake. So before leaving, I prepared something for breakfast. It wasn't big, but it was enough to fuel me for the day ahead.

My bicycle has been faulty for a week now, and with it still out of commission, I had no choice but to trek to school. It was a long journey, but I was able to arrive just in time. I had dedicated today entirely to project work to cover up for the days I took a break. As final-year students, our project has become more than just an academic requirement. It's almost a full-time responsibility. The first thing we did was hold a brief meeting among ourselves to discuss ways to accelerate our progress. We talked about our expenses, the laboratory materials we still needed, and the tasks ahead of us. Once the meeting ended, we proceeded to the greenhouse.

We were delighted by the growths our plants had attained. The plants we've spent weeks nurturing continue to tell their own story through every new leaf and every additional centimeter of growth. At least that was a good reason for us to continue with our work, so we got on to it. To make things easier, we divided responsibilities among ourselves. Some people measured plant heights. Others recorded data. A few worked on labeling the plants, while another person documented everything with photographs.

As for me, I somehow found myself involved in almost everything. I started with data recording, carefully noting the heights of each plant and calculating averages where necessary. Here, accuracy mattered a lot, and every figure had to be documented correctly.

Later, I joined another project student to measure chlorophyll content. Together, we moved from plant to plant, recording readings and ensuring every result was properly entered. Afterward, we watered the plants and took photographs to document their current stage of development.

By the time we finished, the sight on our work was so pleasing to the eyes. The work was demanding no doubt, but seeing the progress we had made gave us a sense of accomplishment. At the end, we went to our supervisor's office. We briefed him on everything we had done and outlined our plans for the coming days. He commended us for a job well done and also provided us with valuable research materials that would support our work moving forward. Yes, we received fresh ammunition for a battle we were determined to win, lol.

Earlier that morning, a lecture had been canceled, only for us to later discover that it had been rescheduled due to issues caused by our ever-unpredictable course representative. And so, despite already being exhausted, I had no option but to attend the class. Now, if there's one thing I dislike, it's afternoon classes. The combination of heat, fatigue, and endless note-taking is enough to test anyone's patience. My energy levels were already hanging, and to make matters worse, the lecturer's voice wasn't helping at all. You'll practically have to sit beside her to hear anything clearly. From where I sat, I spent half the lecture trying to figure out what she was saying and the other half trying not to fall asleep.

Immediately after the lecture, she decided to surprise us with a test. I sat there wondering how exactly I was expected to write a test on information I could barely hear. But there was no escaping it. I did my best, answered what I could, and submitted my script. Whether my answers made sense or not, only God and the lecturer would know.

After surviving that ordeal, I headed straight to the canteen and grabbed something to eat.

Not long afterward, I spent some time copying notes from classes I had previously missed. By then, the sun was already beginning its slow descent toward the horizon. Before I knew, it was evening already and it was time to head home. At exactly 6:47 PM, I began my journey. Normally, walking home wouldn't be much of a story, but the route I used is infamous among students. Stories of robbery, theft, and even stabbings are frequently associated with that path. Every student who uses it knows the risks.

As darkness slowly crept in while I was going, every sound seemed louder than usual. Every approaching figure looked suspicious, such that even movements from distance demanded attention. You should have seen how fast I was going, constantly glancing over my shoulders, checking both sides, and listening carefully. My heart remained alert throughout the journey. Somehow I was walking through a valley of uncertainty. Yet through God's protection, nothing happened. I arrived home safely feeling relief washing over me. To be honest, I thanked God sincerely, then I shared the experience with my siblings recounting every nervous step of the journey.

Soon afterward, I took another shower to cool off my body. It has been a long and challenging day, and most importantly, a day worth being grateful for. In a few moments, I'll finally have my dinner, rest my tired body, and prepare for another early morning tomorrow because the journey continues. But for tonight, I'm thankful.
