THE DIARY GAME | 09-12-2023 | MY FIRST EXPERIENCE AS A BEST MAN IN A WEDDING I CAN'T FORGET

Hello to everyone, it's another beautiful moment in the week where I share with you my day. It is Saturday the 9th of December 2023, the day of the wedding proper.

You remember I said I had a very tough night the day of the traditional wedding, having arrived at the hotel very late at night. Well this was Saturday morning and I spent most of the morning praying and seeking God for the success of that program. At the early hours of the morning,, I had my morning prayers and also read my Bible then began to chat with the photographers and also discuss online a little.

When the guys were very hungry, they got to the road to get somew foodstuffs to eat meanwhile I was in the room still just waiting for the groom and the bride to show their head in the hotel. Infact I was the only ones in the hotel at that time. I hurried and brushed up.l, freshened up and finally the groomsmen arrived. They got themselves dressed up while u was fixing my head to look more sharp.

Finally the groom arrived the hotel with his clothes and I dressed him up. We chatted a little and the little groom too got dressed up, we then left in a car together with the groomsmen to the venue for the church wedding. We were extremely late since it was to begin at 11am but we found ourselves in the hall at 1pm. Seriously Cameroonians and time aren't friends.

We arrived and then the groom got in first with the groomsmen with me just by his side and we got out seats, waiting for the bride. It was a great moment as also a first experience for me. Finally the bride got in too. She was so beautiful and I began to have thoughts of marriage for a while, till I discovered that I'm a Eunuch 😅. She sat, then the ceremony began with the coordinator going through the activities. Then, thee pastor mounted the pulpit and began to preach.

He talked so extensively about marriage and also how the man and woman have to behave vis-à-vis one another, unfortunately just as he began, they took away lights and mics weren't functioning, but we bless God it went well too. When he finished then they got their vows and they kissed. I always wonder why they kiss in marriages. After that, we signed the marriage certificate and the church was dismissed waiting for the evening.

It was at exactly 3pm that we left the church and they began to take pictures, I met an old friend of mine with whom I took some pictures after taking with the bride and the groom. We had some fun and then we departed. We wasted time there so much that the reception too which was to be at 4pm didn't hold at that time.

Since I was the best man I was to be by the groom all round the clock, I was with him and they took pictures and stuff. Then news reached us the camera man and thee groomsman that our bags were at the corridor in the hotel because the bills had expired. Ahh I was in awe by the news, I rushed and got a bike at 5pm and got my bags, contacted a friend of mine who lives in Dschang and got his key then changed to the reception wear. My phone kept ringing because the clergymen wanted to know how far have the couple gone already. I kept on rejecting the calls over and over again.

Since I didn't have anyone to get me pictures, I had to focus on selfies in the wedding and I couldn't really get pictures as such. So I arrived the reception site at 6pm and the couple was still no where to be found. I found a place together with my friend and we sat chatting before a bottle of juice. The bride and the groom finally came at 7:30pm and then we all got into the reception.

Many activities were taking place and the cutting of the cake, presentations, and even gifts too and then item 11 and a game they played too. While they played I had to get down too and hold the groom's stuff that's where my friend had the luxurious opportunity to get me a picture. That's how I snapped finally and we closed the reception at midnight before heading back home to my friend's place to grab a rest and finally prepare for service the next day.
