Harvesting Rice At The Farm

Last year, followed a friend to one of their rice farms where it was harvested and processed. A friend of mine along with other people from their family assisted his aunty to harvest and separate the rice. In this photos, I show you how rice is being separated from the stem.

At first, they had to use sharp knife to cut the rice from it root. Then carry them on a tray to the designated place where the rice grain is being separated from its stem.

A stiched bag is being sprayed on the ground, the harvested rice with stem is drooped there and a group of people - mostly men - circled it to beat out the grains from their stems.

After beating the rice and its stem, the women now step in to pick and separate the rice and those unwanted stems.
