Introduction

The environment in which you are raising your child plays a significant role in shaping their behaviour. It is either complementimg your training or tearing it down.

Your child's environment includes every place where they spend significant amounts of time. This means number 1 will be the home/neighbourhood followed by school, neighbour's house, church etc.

Children are like sponges, they just soak up whatever you dip them into. If you put a sponge in dirty water, when you squeeze you get dirty water. In the same way, children learn by imitating the behaviours of the people in the places where they spend lots of time.

The more time your child spends in any place the higher the influence that the content of that environment will have on their behaviour.

Each time you notice new bad behaviour, don't hasten to discipline without also checking for changes in your child's environment and adjusting those too.

One thing you must realise is that your child's environment is mostly chosen by you their parent. You decide who lives in or visits your home. You choose the school, the daycare, the church, the caregiver etc.

Always take some time to find out about the behaviours of the people in that environment, will it have a positive or negative impact on your child?

Conclusion

Don't be afraid to say NO to certain people having access to your child, its ok to change your mind about the school choice, neighbourhood etc. If you discover it is having negative effects on your child's behaviour.
The environment counts alot!
