The Diary Game , 07, 08 and 09 march 2023. Building and construction days.
Hello dear steemians, i would love to try a new method by pairing my dairy of 3 days in one post because some days had less activities, and other days had alot of hectic activities that involve on and thesame thing that could not make up to a post 300 words apart from irrelevant materials that would bore you guys. Sometimes, when people have lesser activities, they don't write their dairies. I decided to try a new way , hope y'all would like it.
07 MARCH 2023
Early in the morning, after the morning devotion with the family, i stood outside of the house waiting for my cousin to text or call me about a building construction job we had agreed to do. He didn't call to about 8:00am when we had to be at the place , so i called him and enquired, and he said since people were contemplating if the would be movements because the next day had to be a ghost town, he was not sure to go out. The street were filled with the armies but after a while people started moving around town. Since people were going out and few cars moving, i prepared my working things and carried in a bag and went to his house and met him so that we could go to work. I met him at his place, waited for him to put together his working stuff and we went and got a bike at the road. We had to take two drops because were we had to work a car could not go there directly from our quarter or street. When we were about reaching the first stop, there were some police men at the junction and if they saw more than two of us on one bike that morning, they would have disturbed the bike rider. So we turned back and droped abit distant from the check point and moved towards the junction were we got a taxi for to were we had to work.
We reached our destination and called the contractor, and he asked us to seek directions from any one by the road by telling them the name of the building closer to the job site. We asked the first lady and she didn't explain the first direction properly. We reached a junction with two roads and asked from another lady who directed us properly.
We got to the site, changed our clothes, greeted the people who were already there and joined them to work. I mostly did digging, to plant foundations stones the whole day and transfer of cement. We went on break to eat food that was brought to the site by a lady hired to cook. The plates were short and i waited and used another person's own when he was done. I never had a spoon and used a stick to eat plantains with, before another guy gave me his spoon to use.
After eating i continued digging and left the site when it was getting dark so that i could have a taxi going down town.
08 MARCH 2023
The day was a women's day in the country and a ghost town day were everyone in the English speaking part of the country was home. I woke up and attended prayers. During prayers we heard bomb from afar about two times. We stayed indoors a little while and stepped outside.
When i went outside, i saw one of the tenants trying to make some traditional medicines with the back of a tree, which he bought while traveling. He said it is believed for the treatment of malaria and typhoid. He cut then into small pieces and placed in a container and added water to it.
I later assisted my mom to make huckleberry and i went down the street to see a friend, and to pass by the store and purchase some airtime. I came home, ate and took a bath. I was home having nothing to do with the frequent electricity failure in the quarter.
09 MARCH 2023.
Im the morning hours, i woke up still feeling pains from the digging on Tuesday 07 march 2023, on my right arm. I had no choice than to go to work again to complete the foundation construction since it wasn't a ghost town day. I got set, moved to my cousins place and met him and his dad trying to cross their pigs. I waited and i was assigned by my uncle to transport some pigs food to the pigs fence so he could feed them.
After assisting them, my cousin came down the fence and freshened up, got his things and we left for work. This time we didn't ask for directions because we knew the roads perfectly now😄. We reached, changed and nailed some boards all morning to chuck cemet into the foundation blocks to complete the foundation. I was mostly filling up the holes and bracing the boards to mix cement and chuck the foundation.
We went for break, ate bread and chocolate and continued working. They brought 100bags of cement, each equal to 50kg, and the contractor asked i and my cousin to offload them out of the hilux twice and park in the store. The first time we took all out and mu neck was hurting a bit, the second round o started and couldn't even stand well😆😆. I had to stand by the wall and rest. My neck was paining alot. I told the contractor to call another person. After the carrying was over, we went back to the site and they brought us some drinks. Since i don't drink alcohol they brought juice.
After drinking i went and mixed cement and carried and gave some other people to be feeling up into those boards. We filled almost all and two lines were left. We had to mix again but the time was running late. I and my cousin tooth a quick wash and wanted to go home, and we were called that we had to drink again because according to traditional when build, when the foundation is finished, the owner of the house has to buy chicken, or meat or food and drinks , but the man was an old man that had no one to follow that up for him, and so he bought two crates of drinks, i still chosed the juice and drank .
From where we worked, a person could see down town. So i took some pictures of the city down town, completed foundation and went home.
Asia, brother, building no easy at all, but na about that chop I wan ask say the chop correct? because the work done was quite tremendous.
