How Economical it is to Grow your own Vegetables.
In my garden near my house where I was growing my vegetables. Using very organic manure
Did you know that it is quite economical to grow the vegetables that you eat by yourself? Sometimes, people think that it is cheaper to buy every vegetable from the shops but it is not true. It is important to compare and see if the vegetable that you buy from the shop is expensive than if you grow it yourself. The most important thing in growing your own vegetable is that you know the source of what you are eating. Secondly you can make it to taste as your wish. It is also economical to grow your own vegetables with the use of organic manure which is relatively cheaper than synthetic fertilizer in Cameroon.
Intercropping is possible
When possible, it could be good to grow the difference verities of vegetables. in a garden or in the farm among other crops, depending on whether they allow for intercropping. This reduces the wastage of space and provides an opportunity for you to be able to have a smaller area with more than just one species of vegetable grown at the same time. For instance in my local community, you can grow cabbage, pumpkin leaves, bitterly, huckleberry and okra in the same space. On the other hand if you have a larger space where you can cultivate or grow the vegetables, it can be advantageous to also sell to other people who may like to consume vegetables from your farm which is also an income generating activity. Another thing could be that if you do not have enough space you can recycle plastic bags, containers and buckets and grow your vegetables inside. This may need close monitoring, and constant attention to ensure that you don't have to struggle with fungi attacks, bacteria attacks and insects.
You can easily check for fungi and insects attack on the vegetables
A frequent harvest of your own vegetables enables you to continue to eat very fresh vegetables every time. It may be difficult for somebody to learn how to set up a home garden or for one to run a home garden. But it is quite economical if you are eating vegetables grown by you and from your own garden. I hope that this post can inspire you to be able to grow your own vegetables in your own garden and to save money by doing so instead of having to visit the grocery store or the shop every time to buy green leaves and vegetables. Thank you for reading.
