My little but exceptional harvest
The seedlings did not look healthy and at some point I felt discouraged especially as the space was not much. I thought I should just abandon the farm and concentrate on other things .
After 4 months, I was able to go back there and harvest the corn that I could roast and boil and eat with my family and friends.
I later went on vacation and on my return I decided to check on the farm so as to harvest the dry corn . Behold it was so healthy.
I scratched and dried the corn
I had to grind the other one for corn flour.
I also soaked some corn in water to produce corn starch that can be prepared and eaten for breakfast
So while chatting with a next door neighbour recently, she complains to me about exorbitant prices of some food items around us. At this point I realized how blessed I was because I was not going to buy corn for sometime. My family and I have enough to eat now and this has served as a lesson for me to re-strategize towards the next planting season so that we can have a better harvest than what we had at the end of the last farm season.
I was not very motivated when I was planting. First because it was late. secondly, the maize was not doing well and that is why I abandoned it in the farm for some time before ever going back there only to harvest. Had it been I put in more effort and cared for it, I would have harvested even more.
Sometimes Never look at the things that you are doing and feel discouraged, because you are not seeing immediate and positive results. Stay focused and concentrate. Be passionate about whatever you have set your heart to do and you will discover that your effort will not go in vain. Always enjoy the fruits of your labor. Thank you for reading, be motivated.
