Urban agriculture , a need for sustainable Urban life.

Good morning good people and trust uyou all are doing great.
Agriculture culture in Cameroon is the biggest employer ,with most people still practicing subsistence for of farming in the roral areas .
This has dropped in the resent years due to the ongoing sociopolitical crisis which has seen many roral areas deserted and agricultural production dropped drastically.
With the high movement of persons from the roral to the urban area in search of relative safty, the increase has put a high demand on the already limited food supply in the city. Leaving urban agriculture a major stradegy in combatting this food crisis in our urban areas.

With urban agriculture you don't necessarily need a big space to practice,it can be practiced on a space as simple as 1meter , on your veranda, in a bucket, in a bag just any were available around your living spaces.
Urban agriculture , a typical example is owning a garden which has the following advantage.
-you get to eat fresh foods round the clock.
-its cheap
-you get to plant the kind of food or vegetables you prefer.
-you are sure of the quality and quantity you desire

  • excesses can be sold for extra cash.
-its does not require much skill
With this form of agriculture everyone has a chance to reduce the cost of food in their homes , giving then more funds for other activities in the family.
As I strongly advocate for everyone to own a small garden in the urban areas I will say agriculture has been and will always remain a major souce of employment for the world in general and Cameroon in particular. As we all engage in this practice I can only but say give it a try.
Let me nkow how you are progressing with establishing a garden, and if you face any challenges I will be glad to soports you.
