My Diary Game – From Late Night Banters to White Rice & Fresh Tomato-Carrot Sauce

Hello amazing Steemians 👋, I hope your day is going well. Today I want to share a simple but very real part of my day — one of those unplanned days that still turned into something beautiful.

Today didn’t start the way I planned.

I woke up really late and missed class — something I rarely do. But honestly, the reason is funny and very relatable. Yesterday evening, I slept early and woke up some minutes before 8pm. After that, I couldn’t find sleep again. Instead of reading, I stayed on my phone bantering, joking, arguing, and laughing about the Champions League matches that were played.

Eighteen matches in one night! 😅
It was impossible not to get carried away.

Before I knew it, it was already past 4am.

So when I woke up this morning at 8:35am, I didn’t even panic. The class was by 8am, but it’s a probability course that also has another class on Friday with a professor. Still, I later found out that the class actually held, and thankfully, someone helped me write the attendance.

Not very proud of that… but these things happen. It’s just life.

Since I had already missed class, I decided to use the time wisely. Most of my roommates had gone out, so the kitchen was quiet and free. I told myself: “Let me cook something decent today.”

I chose to make white rice with fresh tomato and carrot sauce.

I went out to buy tomatoes and carrots, came back, washed my rice, parboiled it, and put it on the cooker. While the rice was cooking, I washed and sliced the tomatoes, carrots, and onions.

Everything was going smoothly.

When the rice was ready, I brought it down and placed the pot for the sauce. I poured in the blended tomatoes first because I wanted it to dry up a little and reduce that sharp tomato taste. But the hot plate was slow, and time was already going.

By this time, it was past 12pm and my roommates were returning, looking to cook too. So instead of waiting, I changed the plan.

I added the carrots, onions, and other ingredients immediately so everything could boil together and save time.

I poured in groundnut oil, added pepper, Maggi, and even borrowed curry from a roommate 😄. Everything went into the pot together.

And honestly?
The sauce came out very delicious.

Even though student life is not easy, and cooking balanced meals is sometimes hard, I always try. Food is not just about eating — it’s about taking care of yourself, even in small ways.

Today reminded me that even when plans fail, something good can still come out of the day.

From Champions League banter to a warm plate of rice and sauce…
I’d say today still counts. 😊

Have you ever had a day that started messy but ended beautifully?
Tell me about it in the comments 👇😊
