When you have given all you can then how can you say you failed?

I had to relinquish the special status Buea (I seldom go to the farm) gave me [Laughing....]

Sunrise, had me waking up in Limbe and the day was pregnant. We had made plans for the farm and I left Buea by 5:00pm the day before entering the house at 6:54pm like I owned the place. By 6:04am I was up and preparations began for the farm. It was harvesting season and excited you could tell I was.

My brother (expert in Cocoa production) took off with the speed you see only on cartons and I could tell I wasn't alone in my emotion. I failed in making up my bed due to the urgency in the air but would've killed myself if only for a second I thought of skipping dental time (brushing of my teeth).

My dad got the car engine heated up and off I was looking for my attire. I wasn't planning on showing skin to the mosquitos in that farm. I got my bottles filled and to the car my direction was made. Just before I could get my buttocks on the backseat, sweet mother called proposing to give me money for breakfast but I couldn't accept. I mean I'm a big boy now [Laughing....]

Few seconds passed and we drove off and while seated there I remembered the episode (series of nightmares or dreams I keep having) of last night. This was vivid as I could remember being advised in it (dream) by a lady I would call my grandma to be careful in selecting a life partner. Once again, it felt odd I was having such dreams.

I was mentally preparing myself for the work I had ahead than to dwell on the dream. I wore a smirk on my face as I changed thoughts. In about 25 minutes, we were at the location climbing up the slope to our farm to which the total area was covered with Cocoa.

Now that I put it in text, I feel ashamed as we couldn't commit our day (in prayer) that went well or did it? I guess we'll know at the end.

By passing the second pile of Cocoa, I swallowed down fear but kept encouraging myself.

Second pile of cocoa

Setting up sitting positions for work to commence at the first pile, I was impressed yet even more scared of the output because it meant my dad might be right about his prophecy [Laughing?....] We were eight (8) in number and that was a deficit. In a joking tune, my dad said "we go finish this cocoa for 8 o'clock" and we argued.

The first pile of cocoa

Minutes disappeared and immediately expected hot topics for discussion came from my dad and his friend. Some of which are too classified for my safety. Meanwhile, concerned about the sweet acidic juice from the cocoa and how it can affect my fingers, I uniquely invented finger gloves as I would call them now by yours truly.

The clock ticked and Midday was here and for the strangest reasons a guy like me was not hungry. I guess sucking on the cocoa juice bought me some time. With belief, we bagged the first pile of cocoa and transportation down the slope was done. The young took charge and this separated the group in two. The older half [Laughing...], went to initiate the cracking and removal of the second pile.

With our dad making rounds to the storage space, we completed the transportation in no hurry. Coming for the final round, I decided to eat what I cherished at the time as lunch.

The work was still fresh on ground and thinking about it made me wish I was a magician. My dad while making his rounds got engaged in an incident and one of the four tyres to his car was beyond repair. After waiting for him at the secondary removal spot to no avail, I decided to go join the others to facilitate work.

By the time it was Sunset, we saw his car coming from a distance and it gave us relieve. Mustering the last joules of energy in us, we rounded up and the second transportation was activated. Climbing out of the farm with our last bags was a feeling we couldn't trade. Minutes ticked and our dad came for the bags and us. Planning on skipping the free ride to go drink some corn beer, we were busted right away and we laughed while entering the car for the last time of the day.

Arriving home, a real combination of breakfast, lunch and dinner was served with our choice of drinks made available. Diving right into the bath, I took my time to thoroughly remove any molecule of cocoa juice as I wasn't ready to become ant food [Laughing....]. I got to the dining and took care of the easy part of my day while celebrating my favourite English Premier League club (Manchester City) for making me proud once again.

These days, Limbe and heat are plotting something and I just to have that nothing hides under the sun. To be continued........

Thanks for reading and stay blessed!
