My Creative Writing: Cooking 'Mfi Ye Ikpa Otong' [My Native Delicacy]

Greetings @everyone and welcome to my blog. Today I'll be sharing my cooking skills on our native delicacy called 'Mfi ye Ikpa Otong'. Please, stay tuned and read with love from @uyaiuyo

Ingredients Needed

Mfi (periwinkle)

Ikpa (cow skin)

Ntueñ (pepper)

Ayim (onions)

Mfang adusa

Ntong (scent leaves)

Utasi

Mfid adusa

Ata

Ayim eto

Uyayak (Aidan fruit or prekese)

Fruit incense

Iwiin

Diansa

Ginger

Garlic

Salt

Seasoning Cube

Palm oil

Potash water

Method Of Preparation

I started by keeping all the ingredients handy.

Then I proceeded to cutting of periwinkles. So I cut my periwinkles, washed and set it aside.

Then I proceeded to washed and cut my 'ikpa' to desired sizes and shapes.

I proceeded to sliced my onions

I washed and pounded my peppers.

I washed my 'ntong' cut and set it aside.

I washed my adusa, cut and set it aside.

I washed my utasi, cut and set it aside.

Into my mortar, I added my iwiin and diansa, pounded it and set it aside.

I proceeded to add my other spices ( garlic, ginger, ayim eto, ata, mfid adusa, fruit incense, uyayak ) into my mortar, pounded everything together till I got consistency.

Into my pot, I poured in my periwinkles, added my pepper, onions, salt and all the pounded spices into the pot and put it on fire. I allowed it to steam for a while, before I added seasoning Cubes to confirm the test.

After confirming the test, I allowed it to steam before I added my ntong and adusa leaf. I stirred and brought it down from fire. Uwoooh, the aroma was out of this world.

Into a bowl, I poured in my potash water. I added my palm oil bit by bit, I stirred till I had this banga consistency called 'Otong'

I poured it into my pot of 'Mfi ye Ikpa' that I brought down from fire, poured in my utasi leaves, gave it a stir and my 'Mfi ye Ikpa otong' was ready. Mbok, bring your plate before sold out takes place o.

Meanwhile, you can enjoy this special delicacy With palm wine, assorted beer & soft drink, zobo drink or wine or any liquor of your choice.
