Idols: Our Centre of Focus in Identity
When our focus or attention is heavily channelled to a particular person, place, thing, idea, etc., that becomes an idol whether consciously or subconsciously.
Having someone you admire isn't bad. But when it takes the place of God, it becomes a problem.
Our very essence is to yearn for more. More with God. More of God.
However, when that is replaced with something else, and we find ourselves always thinking and wanting something or someone to be there when we need them, it simply means we're addicted to that thing.
While desiring good things is cool, our only addiction should be to God. Cause even if we may lose everything, we can never lose God.
