Diary Game: [17/06/26] Zero Plans
Today had zero plans. I woke up late to a dead phone and no light. The house was quiet except for the fridge humming, so I just lay there scrolling until my thumb got tired. Then I noticed a mosquito on the wall. Instead of killing it right away, I watched it for a while. It sat there like it owned the place, legs crossed, totally unbothered. After five minutes I got bored and ended its reign. Small win for me, I guess.
I tried to make noodles but the gas ran out halfway through. Classic. I filled a kettle, poured the hot water over the noodles, and covered the bowl with a plate like it was some fancy cooking hack. It actually worked. While I ate, the kid next door started singing pop songs at full volume but got all the lyrics wrong. Normally that would annoy me, but today it was kind of comforting. Loud and off-key beat silence.
This evening I told myself I’d organize my wardrobe. Two hours later the room looked worse and I found an old notebook from 2021. My to-do list was hilarious: “Wake up at 5am, gym, read 20 pages.” I don’t know who that person was. I tore out a page, folded it into a paper plane, and launched it off the balcony. It barely made it past the railing before the wind took it to the neighbor’s yard. Their problem now.
Before bed I sat by the window and watched the streetlights flicker on. Motorcycles kept passing, hawkers were still shouting, Lagos wasn’t sleeping yet. I got stuck thinking about random stuff, like why sachet water freezes faster than bottled water. No answer came to me. Today wasn’t special in any way, but maybe that’s the point. Not every day needs a story. Some days just need to be lived.
