The diary game :01/12/2020 - Great theme of the day.
I got up at about 8 am, freshened up, had milk and halwa (sweet dessert) as breakfast. Got ready for duty . Sought mom's permisson before leaving and than grandmother's permisson. As i started leaving, grandmom told me to get her BP checked as she had not got it checked for few days. So i got her BP checked before leaving for duty. It was normal.
Issue in winter with most of the patient coming to hospitals who need BP check up is that to prevent themselves from cold they wear number of clothes and while checking BP they cannot fold or push them up which creates problem in checking BP properly.
One wonderful scheme launched by our government is that, for health care Institutes, if any equipment is non- functional, we have to make a call on tollfree number and get complaint registered and they later send their team to the hospital and get that fixed. As part of that programme, we had earlier launched complaint against non-functioning of deep freezer and Ice lined refrigerator. In that connection, team was sent today to get them fixed.

Let me not forget to mention importance of today's date. 01 december is celebrated as World AIDS Day .
In this connection , extensive awareness programmes were launched in different hospitals of our block to spread awareness regarding mode of spread of AIDS, preventive measures and treatment guidelines.
Awareness on AIDS
Tons of material are availabe online these days for information on any subject. So not to bore with that stuff, i won't discuss those things here but for information few points to remeber are :
AIDS is a disease and not a virus, the virus that causes AIDS is known as HIV (HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS) . So try to make proper use of terms.
AIDS is not caused by hugging, kissing, shaking hands, sharing utensils, common toilets, gym equipments, air, touching door knobs etc.
AIDs is not transmitted by mosquitoe bites.
AIDS is not curable yet.
This is quite an interesting and educating post,most people uses the wrong term when reffering to aids and most of them imbibes fear into the lifes of many by telling them it can be transmitted through hand shaking and others,
We have training centres hear in Nigeria where some of these teachings are given and my mum's hospital happens to be one of the best centers (she is a nurse)

Why is AIDS not transmitted via insect bites as it can spread through blood??

Very good question. It is due to following reasons :
Mosquitoes don't inject blood but they suck blood of host.
HIV does not live too long in mosquito body.
Even if mosquitoes sting apparatus contains blood, amount of virus contained is too low to infect the host.
