Once you make a post about your favorite authors, ask them to drop a comment on your post Stating if you write about them is true or false, Entry won't be taken into consideration if there's no comment on post from the selected author

That is the trick to bring them to the engagement table.

I hope people will now switch from "just reading" to "in-depth reading" of diary posts.
