How We Can Promote @milakz and Try an Experiment in UBI

For years, those who have known me in person, on Steem, or other Social Media generally know that I advocate for a Universal Basic Income (#UBI). Essentially, everyone in society would receive an equal sum of money. At some stage, people need to set aside the words of rights and privileges and focus on needs. People need drinkable water, food and shelter. A basic income would assist people in covering these costs.

When I studied International Food Policy at university, I concluded that governments often would erect barriers that prevent people from receiving food donations from other countries. Wheat would rot on the docks instead of being delivered to people. At the start of COVID, masks sent to aid China by various countries were resold to other countries. Cryptocurrencies are ideal for sending aid because they do not need to go through banks or governments.

My second consideration was how to put the money in the hands of the people. There used to be many general stores that carried a broad line of products in Canadian rural communities. Some still exist, but they are not necessarily the hub of the village. Similar stores exist internationally. They might have different names, but they serve the same purpose.

So in a community, there could be a store administered locally. While my original model could use other coins, at this stage, I will say the currency used would be Steem. We have an excellent opportunity to provide proof of purpose. "We" have a store that we are partners in spirit (if not actual equity stakeholders), we have a local owner (@milakz) who has earned our respect, and we have a mechanism (Steem) that will allow fee-free transactions. If producers are willing to be paid in Steem (which they can exchange for different products in the store), it could stabilize the local economy. This stability could be especially true where people have lost confidence in their local currencies (like Venezuela, Zimbabwe etc.)

In doing a little research, I found that the minimum wage in Kazakhstan is roughly 6 Steem per day (can you confirm @milakz). Suppose @milakz created a post (I am willing to add my two cents worth) daily for distribution to others. They could buy food in Steem Mart or become active members of the Steem community. How many people would be willing to receive a basic income?

I think that promoting our members should be a priority in addition to promoting Steem. I have a few questions I hope you have time to answer.

Do you think we can get a consensus on this statement from the members of our community? Perhaps we can run a questionnaire to get that vote.

I suggested in my post that the minimum wage in KZ is roughly $2 USD (6 Steem) per day. Is that accurate?

I have more questions, but I will limit them to these two today. It is Sunday after all.
