How Do You Know If You Are On The Right Path?

in Steem Skillshare3 years ago

Fast forward from where you are, look at yourself in 10, 15, 20 years time and ask yourself,

“Is that where I want to be?”

If you’re in a company, look at the person who is 20 years ahead of you and ask yourself,
“Is that where I want to be?”

If you’re in a start up, look at where other start ups have got to in similar roles and ask yourself,
“Is that where I want to go?”

If the answer is no, then you need to find a new path.

If you realize the path that society, your parents, your university is carving out for you doesn’t feel right or is not where you want to be…..

Open yourself up to new experiences and new role models. Most of us can’t see ourselves in other people, so we try to fit ourselves into the boxes we do see.

Your identity is made up of:

  • what your parents think you should be.
  • what society dictates you should be
  • what your university or college thinks you should achieve.
While you are living in that bubble, getting to what you really want to do is impossible.

Maybe that just doesn’t fit, and so many people feel that way today.

You might feel you don’t fit into the current education system. You might feel you don’t fit into the
Four or five careers that you’re taught exists.

You need to expose yourself to new possibilities. You can’t be what you can’t see.

If you want to become a pilot, go and talk to a pilot, find out the realities of the career and what it takes to be one.

If you want to be a billionaire, find a way to meet one so you know what that feels like and what it takes to become one.

You can become what you can see, feel and believe in. @rachelshieff - Transformative Coach and trainer

Thanks so much.

Good morning, excellent, if most people live in a bubble doing what society dictates and they don't follow what they are really passionate about.
Thank you

Hello Rachel

I see that you are based in Hong Kong. Are there indications that you might want to leave?

Hi there, I have no plans to leave at the moment. It's been home for me for so long. Life is good, it's a safe place with employment and there's no virus here. We've got itchy feet to travel though. Our government enforces hotel quarantine for all residents on return, even if we're vaccinated. They're being cautious, as HK is densely populated. Where are you based?

I live about three hours north of Toronto, Canada.

The news that one gets about Hong Kong (or any place) tends to be very dramatic and doesn't necessarily reflect reality. Interestingly, the Canadian government has a warning on its travel advisory site, explicitly mentioning the National security legislation for Hong Kong that came into effect on June 30, 2020. Things that I might say in Canada could get me arrested in Hong Kong.

I almost have a hobby to create plans in a disaster. What I didn't discuss in the linked document was a plan for what to do to earn money after a disaster. I see that four years ago, you experienced a disaster and had to create a new job for yourself quickly. Did you make your plans spontaneously, or had you considered the possibility before losing your job?

Do you think that it would be helpful for you and your clients to have a workshop on how to formulate strategies before "losing their jobs"? I understand that Vietnam is an up-and-coming economy. Does it make sense to explore financial ties there? I understand that the Philippines is also one of Asia's fastest-growing economies.

Being a personal development coach is one of those professions where you must have a suitcase packed and ready to go. An acquaintance of mine gave seminars throughout Canada, the US, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Perhaps you might consider setting up the connections for delivering content to countries that are on the move.
