Sohag Gazi's Test career began with a six off the bat of Chris Gayle. He wrote his name in the pages of history through that six. But the fame was not pleasant. That's why in the first year of his debut, he has set a record that has never been seen before by the cricket world. He took 6 wickets including a hat-trick after scoring a century with the bat against New Zealand in Chittagong in 2013.

Sohag Gazi completed the hat-trick by taking the wickets of Anderson, Watling, and Bracewell after batting an unbeaten 101 in the eighth position. He also became the first all-rounder in the history of Test cricket to score a hat-trick and a century in the same Test. His hat-trick is the second among Bangladeshi bowlers in Test cricket and he became the second all-rounder after Shakib Al Hasan to score a century in the same match in Tests and to take five wickets.
