Intoduction

Social Media has been a part and parcel of the 21st century. The single platform has shook the world in it's positive and negative sides. Social media can be defined as a group of applications used in communication with the help of data connection or cellular connection. Social media is widely used across the world by people of different age grades. The old and the young can use it at their convenience. But, this social media has been in controversy for years. Some admires and praise it while some disapprove it. So, in this article, I will talk about the pros and cons of this social media.

PROS

Pros in a layman's language is simply vthe benefits of something. The pros of social media include the following.

• Faster means of communication: my grandfather once told me thst he sent a letter to his brither living in a distant state using post office. But, the letter reached his brother a week later. Nowadays, you don’t have to worry about how long your message will reach the recipient because it is sent in a jifty . And in a matter of seconds, you will get a reply from the recipient.
• Face time: this feature is mostly achieved through the poer of social media. This type of communication(face time or video call) is audio-visual. Imagine a relative staying ina far-away land want to talk to you in a audio-visual mode. Social media can tackle that with high efficiency. Social media platform like Whatsapp, Messenger,etc can oerforn thus task.
• Source of income: social media is also a source of income to people of all categories. One of the major way of making money through social media is by content crearion. Content like Video/skits, writeup,etc can generate income to the user.

CONS

Cons simply the harmful effects of something. The cons of social media include the following

• Destruction of societal value: societal values has been comprmised because of social media. Young people tend to impress people and ignoring societal values by dressing indecently. It’s like a trend on the social media that people don’t dress decently. It is believed that to be popular and famous on th social media that social media world, one must neglect societal values
• Hacking: This is very common in the social media world. This involues the illegal access to one’s private account on any social media platform. This will endanger the user because the vital information will be read through. Some vital information oncerning work, school,etc are dicussed via the social media. But, if an hacker has access to that account, your secret will turn to public secret.
• Violence-rated content: This is also a con because the social media is used by people of all ages. A child who might have watched volence content will like to practicalize it. And this single action can give way to something more harmful.
