A Simple Fan's View of How India Won the 1st ODI Against NZ
Even though it's been a couple of days, I wanted to share my thoughts on the IND vs NZ 1st ODI. I watched it recently and that close finish really stayed with me.
📊 Match Scorecard
| Team | Score | Overs | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Zealand | 300/8 | 50.0 | |
| India | 306/6 | 49.0 | Won by 4 wickets |
The Moment That Stuck With Me
Looking back, the match turned between the 39th and 42nd overs. Kohli was solid at 93, but after he got out, India lost Iyer and Jadeja quickly. It felt tense even watching later.
What really impressed me was KL Rahul's calm finish
with India needing 9 runs in 9 balls, he smashed 4, 4, and finished with a six. That not only sealed the win but showed incredible composure under pressure. and he ended with 29*.
My Simple Take on the Strategy
India's phased approach made sense:
- Gill's steady 56 gave a foundation
- Kohli anchored with 93
- Rahul finished clinically without panic
Even with Jamieson taking 4 wickets, India avoided a collapse. NZ's death bowling needs work. they leaked too many when it mattered.
Connecting to My Steem Journey
Reflecting on this match reminds me of Steem growth:
- Consistent effort (like building partnerships) beats chasing quick wins
- Risk awareness (preserving wickets/VP) maintains your position
- Seizing moments (like Rahul's finish) requires patience first
Patience truly builds winning positions, in cricket and on Steem.
