RE: Community Update and a New Topic for the Week.

My family is sort of lazy about cooking. We usually only make one main meal a day - brunch or linner - and then eat leftovers or snacks like fruit, veggies, yogurt, cheese or smoothies whenever we are hungry again. I guess it isn't really lazy, since we do make everything from scratch, but different. Cooking this way has really freed up more time and kept both my partner and I from being in the kitchen constantly prepping, cooking, and cleaning. The kids also know how to cook a small meal for themselves if they need or want something else. It works for us.

I think this can be a good approach and is often necessary. You really can end up spending all day in the kitchen otherwise and the children learn how to cook this way too. How many younger adults can't cook because they were never taught? Even some of our own generation only know how to follow the instructions on a packet when it comes to cooking.

So true. Making sure our kids can take care of their basic needs is a main value of our family homeschooling philosophy.
