Goodbye Steem
This is a time I thought would not come, but recent events have forced my hand. When I joined Steem back in 2016 it looked like it would go far and blockchains are forever, but it has been poisoned by Justin Sun. He is used to getting his own way and did not like it when the community rebelled against him. Do not give me shit about the witnesses taking his 'property'. That was done with clear intentions to give it back. He used underhand methods to get the top 20 witness places with his puppet accounts and was surprised when we took away his majority. His continued bad faith actions led to the creation of Hive and now Steem is all his to do as he wants.
He has paid a few people to be his new witnesses with massive delegations and $360 votes. Former true witnesses who served the community get censored on Steemit and huge downvotes. He is dumb enough to use the full force of the Steemit account when you can only take off what was already there and it has no effect on their reputations.
If you are sticking with Steem then use @Steempeak which is not censored. Then you can see both sides. I would suggest you just move to Hive where the majority of the community has gone. I have started powering down my Steem and today converted the first instalment to Hive. The conversion rate is not great as Hive is already worth about twice as much as Steem. Expect to see the gap grow as people dump their Steem.
I am just setting up some auto-votes to support people I like if they stick around here. Those votes are going to shrink over the next few months.

Oh no! I just came BACK to steem today to post and see what is going on. I don't know what communities are or what is happening? What is Hive, is it easy to join? Gee so many questions I better go check it out, Hive I mean... Any suggestions for how to join What good groups, is there a 'hey we were on steemit we're over here' group?
Well you have missed a lot :) Communities are built around a topic and you can follow those instead of having to follow all the members. There are already a lot out there. It costs 3 Steem (and probably 3 Hive) to create one. Moderators can control what appears there.
Hive is a fork of the Steem blockchain. Everyone gets an airdrop of Hive tokens equal to their Steem except for the Steemit accounts and people who supported their fake witnesses. Obviously some are cross about that, but they still have their Steem. You can log into Hive on either Hive.blog or PeakD (clone of Steempeak). Just log in with your user name and usual Steem keys. There is a Hive Keychain extension to make life easier. Some dapps are moving to Hive, but others are sticking with Steem. It's a shame to see this, but Justin Sun has been spoiling Steem since he bought Steemit. I have to hope this will not happen again.

When the Bittrex wallets went live last night I got on it. Sold my first batch of Steem and plan to liquidate more in the coming weeks.

I guess he bought the poison from Ned. I was clear right from when he announced he bought Steemit that things will get shaky, but I am now wondering why witnesses, especially the ones that have hardforked Steem, reacted earlier in order to not get to all this.
I honestly didn't know too much details about Steem and Steemit but witnesses should have known and in my opinion they could have done that earlier, but they didn't.
Hive seems to be working fine now, and my hopes are that whatever flaws Steem had will be solved on Hive. For the moment I am still active on both and as long as Steem will survive over 10 cents I don't see myself dumping it for good.
It seems however that not all are transiting to Hive, but the majority is. Interesting times ahead and hopefully better.
