Guava plants can be planted from both seeds and grafting. If you want to see fruit quickly, it's best to purchase grafted plants from a nursery. June to August (monsoon) is the best time to plant. Guavas require fertile and well-drained soil. Plant them in a location that receives at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight a day. Lack of sunlight can result in smaller fruits.
Care and Fertilizer: Water young plants regularly, but avoid waterlogging. A large tree requires plenty of moisture during flowering and fruit set. Adding compost or vermicompost twice a year (February and September) is beneficial. This improves the size and flavor of the fruit. Periodic pruning is necessary to shape the tree and encourage more branches. This helps the tree grow denser and produce more fruit. Fresh guavas grown at home are rich in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants. They help improve digestion and boost immunity. Unlike the fruits available in the market, home-grown guavas are pesticide-free and completely pure.
