I knew about the white linens from the time I worked at a ski resort. You could smell the chemicals from the laundry, and once a month they had a giveaway of linens that were too stained to use but still ok. The place was really poor, and most of the workers only had this seasonal job, so life was a struggle. But everyone who worked there had awesome sheets, towels, and kitchen linens for free.
