Making the most of a dry day
Today we had a break in the weather, for a change it was dry with no wind so we made the most of it and spent time sorting out the poultry.
We cleaned out all the houses, fixed the overhead netting that had been torn down by the recent storms. Collected all the scattered twigs and branches, once again a result of the high winds of late and had a general tidy up.
Once done we set about restoring one of the grass pens which has been left fallow. We filled in all the hollows with a mix of topsoil and compost and then topped with turf left over from a building job.It will be left empty now until late Spring / early Summer ready for the 2018 pullets.

We also spent some time observing the pullets we had kept back as replacements, making a final selection on the ones we plan to keep.
Two of the 'to go ' birds have already been collected this evening - a Bellecross Belle an olive layer and a Welsummer a dark brown layer.
