Monarch caterpillars and a harvest

in #homesteading7 years ago

Good afternoon wonderful steemians.

Clouda back again with another harvest update. woop woop i know how you all look forward to these. Also today i have added in an update on the yellow pear tomatoes and a picture of the swan plant covered in beautiful monarch caterpillars.

I love seeing monarch butterflies in the garden floating around graciously. So every year we plant swan plants. Some years we plant way to late and the plants are too small for the caterpillars meaning that they don't have enough food on the plant to turn into chrysalises. Fingers crossed the swan plants are big enough this year because we already have some big juicy caterpillars munching the plants.

This is the yellow pear tomato plant i am treating this plant like a new born lamb. I haven't google imaged this plant so i have no idea what it is going to look like.

Today i harvested 2 more gherkins and our first 2 cucumbers of the season. I cant wait to slice them up and put them into a fresh salad. Also harvested a handful of beans to add to the bunch.

Stay tuned and keep steeming beautiful people.

Also for more updates on my wife and i's house and garden feel free to follow her on @nightowl

We had some incredible yellow pear tomatoes in our garden this last year!
Actually just opened a can of mango + yellow pear + aji crystal pepper salsa. So sweet and juicy, fruity little things!

Good luck in your garden!

I cant wait to see what they look like. I also have 1 called Mr. Stripey haha.
That salsa sounds delicious.
Thank you very much for the comment.
