Even though we had cows to graze this year, we decided upon their arrival that they were not something we wanted to put in our freezer. The farm where we get our raw milk and cream for butter was offering Normande beef they had bred and raised.
From Sidehill’s newsletter:
“Among French gourmands, Normande beef is considered the finest beef in France. Traditionally raised on pasture and hay instead of grain, the beef finishes beautifully on the sweet summer grasses we have here in New England, and doesn't need to be force-fed corn in a feedlot in order to develop it's deep flavor and tenderness. The beef is lean, and full of old-time rich, beefy flavor.”
So we decided to get a quarter and try it out. Delivery day was November 3rd so we combined the trip with the milk club pickup.
They have a real nice Farm Store. The map on the wall tells where the cows are during the grazing season. People are allowed to walk the farm. We once spent our anniversary out by their farm pond in May.
The store even has 2 kitties, one who is a bit shy, and one who loves pats.
We got there early, got our milk and cream, and our 4½ boxes of Normande beef. We’ve only had a couple meals from the beef, but so far are happy with it.

Wow! That description has my mouth watering. 😍
It certainly got our attention. :))
Hmm...I have never heard of that type of beef before, but I would be very interested to hear if you guys really like it.
My husband just got back from a trip and says he'll be cooking a steak tomorrow.....He's the one who eats the most beef.
Looks like a great little farm shop, all the ones near me seem to be those hip pretend ones where everything is bought in, need to look a bit further a feild next year to try and find some gems 😄

They do bring in organic eggs and some cheeses, but mostly it's their own products.
Wow that sounds great, ive got nothing against shops buying things in. Its just some of the ones near me are so fancy they are like expensive deli's that i couldnt afford anything in 🤔

Well, the food offered in this shop is not cheap, but is well worth the money. :))
oh wow! I would be totally into that if we had a good option. I sure wish we were neighbours (I know I keep saying this). I HATE that raw milk is illegal to buy in Canada. It really sucks.
Having it be illegal here would have condemned me to the wheelchair for life....
