RE: Our New Rabbit Tractor

in #homesteading7 years ago

Did you know that every rabbit needs 2m2 of space? Usually cages are too small as they are based on old fashioned cages where animals were kept to be eaten, and therefore to get fat.
Anyway, nice cage, but could have been bigger.

As I stated in the post I could not make it bigger. They have 24 sq ft which is plenty of space because they are getting moved every single day. Which means more food and much more sanitary conditions but that you for the info. These are also young rabbits which will be moved to a permanent colony before they are full grown

I like the idea of the colony. Our rabbits are allowed to room around the garden, and have a hutch as well. I am just so sad when I see adult rabbits in a small cage alone.

Yes colony is the end goal but we gotta get a ton of trees cut down before we build a permanent structure. Still deciding if we want to house the male with the females
