Vegetables are a staple of our bodies. Because many contained vitamins and minerals needed by the body to be able to metabolize well. Currently, the price of vegetables in the market soared. Therefore, we can utilize the land around our house for the cultivation of vegetable crops. Besides can be for own consumption, can also be sold and get a profit.

Types of Vegetable Crops

Many types of plants that fall into the category of vegetable crops such as kale, tomatoes, beans, beans, eggplant, labuh, radish, cucumber, caisim, spinach, cabbage, and so forth. Everything can almost be planted in pekarang house or even in pots organically or hydroponically.

Media for Planting Organic Vegetables

There are various growing media that can be used to grow vegetables. From natural to synthetic start. You can use the existing planting media around the house, which is easy to get and how to make it easy.

  • Soil
Usually there are 2 types of soil that is around us that is clay soil and sand soil. Each has advantages and disadvantages. Clay soils, for example, are able to store water longer and make plant roots stronger but more difficult to penetrate water so that there will be puddles, and some plants do not match the puddles.
While the sand land, has a good drainage excess but difficult to store water, so the water reserves in the soil will be easily depleted. Therefore, select the soil that contains both. The trick is to mix the two soils and combined with the compost so that the soil is more loose so it has good drainage and can store water longer.

  • Humus or Compost
Humus has a very high nutrient content, so good for plants. Humus soil can be obtained from the forest, usually located around the fern plant. Even if the location of your house with the forest. How about in urban areas?
You can use compost as an organic nutrient supplying material for plants. All types of solid compost can be utilized as a growing medium. Good compost is cooked or dried compost. If compost is not yet mature even bring disastrous for the plant because it can bring disease and pests for plants. It also will not be useful because the nutrients can not be absorbed by the plant because it has not decomposed perfectly.

  • Coconut husk or charcoal husk
You can use coconut husk from old coconut for planting medium if your planting location has low rainfall and tend to dry. In addition, it can also utilize charcoal husk that is the result of incomplete combustion of rice husks.
Chaff charcoal works to increase soil porosity, maintain soil moisture, increase soil binding capacity to water and stimulate microbial growth that is beneficial to plants. In addition, charcoal husk is also able to remove pests and seeds of disease contained in the soil.

How to Plant Organic Vegetables

In addition to preparing planting media, there is also an important thing that seeding vegetable seedlings that will be planted on planting media. Seedling in general is just the same as the tomato plants are slightly different. For the initial stage, you should select easy vegetable crops in the process of nursery and harvest more quickly, such as kale for example.

The process of seedling kale not long and the harvest was only 1 month after planting. How to grow vegetables kale even easier.

  • Seedling seeds if you start from kale. Spread seeds on treated soil. Sprinkle the soil on top, then let until the seeds grow and have 3 or 4 leaves.

  • Move seeds on the media you want, can use pots, polybags, or anything else that can be used. At the place must have been filled with nutrients needed plants. Mix the soil with compost plus charcoal husk. With 2 parts of ground compost, 1 part compost and 1 part chaff charcoal. So that the soil becomes loose.

  • Kale plant treatment was very easy. Do watering every morning and evening, fertilizing after 10 days of planting, and clean the planting place from the wild mud that can disrupt the growth of kale vegetable crops.

  • Harvesting vegetables kale approximately 1 month from the time of planting. After harvest, repeat step by step from start again, or it could be with steak so no need for seeding.
