Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is Official: The Era of Tri-Folding Begins

The foldable landscape has just been revolutionized. Following months of speculation and prototype showcases, Samsung has officially taken the wraps off its most ambitious device yet: the Galaxy Z TriFold. Positioned as the epitome of the company's foldable expertise, the Z TriFold introduces a tri-fold design to bring the largest screen ever seen on a Galaxy foldable, alongside powerful hardware and clever software features.

The defining feature of the Galaxy Z TriFold is its triple-panel design, made possible by dual titanium hinges. This ingenious mechanism allows the massive main screen to fold completely inward, offering unparalleled protection when the device is not in use.

When fully unfurled, the main display is a colossal 10 inches diagonally, featuring a sharp 2,160 x 1,584px resolution. It boasts an adaptive refresh rate spanning 1-120Hz and an impressive 1,600 nits of peak brightness. A pre-installed protective film, standard across the Z series, adds an extra layer of durability.

The Sleekest Galaxy Foldable Yet

Despite its complexity, Samsung managed to keep the Z TriFold surprisingly sleek. Built with an Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, the device measures just 3.9mm at its thinnest point when unfolded.

When closed, the device dimensions are 159.2 x 75 x 12.9 mm, and it weighs 309 grams. Samsung has also equipped it with IP48 ingress protection against dust and water, maintaining the durability standards of the Z series.

The exterior boasts a crisp 6.5-inch Cover Screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 2,520 x 1,080px resolution, and a stunning peak brightness of up to 2,600 nits, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.

Flagship Performance and Desktop-Grade Software

Under the hood, the Z TriFold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, paired with a generous 16GB of RAM and storage options of 512GB or 1TB.

The device runs OneUI 8 based on Android 16, which leverages the expansive screen for powerful multitasking. Users can run three full-sized apps side-by-side in portrait mode, enabling a true workstation experience on the go.

Key Software Innovation:

• Standalone Samsung DeX: The Z TriFold is the first Samsung phone to feature a dedicated, standalone DeX mode accessible directly from the Quick Settings panel, turning the device into a complete, portable desktop when connected to a mouse and keyboard.

The Z TriFold inherits the acclaimed camera technology from the Galaxy Z Fold7:

The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will launch in a single color, Crafted Black.

While Samsung has not yet disclosed the official pricing, they confirmed that the device will first be available in South Korea starting Friday, December 12. Following this initial release, Samsung plans to expand availability to key global markets, including China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the U.S., in the near future.
