How to find Highest Common Factor.
In this article we will tell you the methods to find highest common factor (H.C.F). There are three methods to find HCF namely Factor method, Division method I, and Division method II. Let's discuss each methods one by one.
- Factor Method: On this method each of given numbers are rewrite as product of all prime factors. Then find the product of all the common factors. This product will be the Highest common factor.
Example: find H.C.F. of 24,32, and 40.
24= 2×2×2×3
32= 2×2×2×2×2
40= 2×2×2×5
So, Highest common factor= Product of common factors= 2×2×2= 8.
- Division Method I : First arrange all given numbers in a row, then divide by that any number which divide all the numbers. Repeat this process. Finally find the product of the all divisors. This product will be Highest common factor of given number.
Hope you understood this method so try to find Highest common factor of 84,126, and 210.
- Division Method II : For Highest common factor of two numbers, divide the larger by the smaller number than divide the divisor by remainder. Repeat this process till the remainder is zero.
Thus, the last divisor will be Highest common factor of the given numbers. Was this article helpful for you tell us in comment box and don't forget to follow us.
