Hello lovely Steemians!

This installment gives the floor to a beautiful being on Planet Steem!

@limabeing.

An extraordinary person who is doing a HELL of A LOT to support others here.

I am excited to share this with you!

ENJOY!

Just before we start, I am going to give you a bit of background info on Humans Of Steemit!

Humans Of Steemit showcases YOU.
Show who you are.
Get down to the nitty gritty of your entire being.
Steemit would not be here if it weren’t for you.
Steemit would not be good if it weren’t for you.

Recently, there has been a lot of speculation on the automatism (our beloved and not so beloved bot friends), being on here purely for monetary gains and where the humanity is missing on Steemit.

So let’s set that aside and show the humanity here. The people. You. We. Us.

There are two aspects to Humans Of Steemit!

A Q&A and Fun Crazy Steemit Thing!

Q&A

A Q&A to dive deep into the souls of the Humans Of Steemit!
The questions are designed to unearth the real Steemian beneath the username and avatar.
To show you the realest real they are.
From silly to serious to funny to deep.
All the Q's are in there.

Fun Crazy Steemit Thing

is the space in which you can totally let go and be YOURSELF.
Show who you are.
Whether that’s a crazy dance video of you doing your ‘I am drunk and have no idea what I am doing but I am enjoying myself dance’ or you singing at your best to your fave karoake tune or a drawing of you looking all peaceful and wonderful or the best photo you ever took or ANYTHING!
As long as it is YOURS.
As long as it represents YOU!

Plus the deal is that 50% of the SBD from this post (after payout) is transferred to the Human Of Steemit that is featured! I get to keep the SP for organizing this, putting it all together and whatnot! And the other 50% of the SBD goes to people who are helping out with this project!

Whoop whoop!
Exciting stuff right?
So let's get right to it!

Q&A

Who are you? Tell us anything and everything you’d like us to know about you!

Of course it’s really hard to get to the essence of most humans without leaving out some pertinent information. I am a bit complicated but also simple. My main values/likes are authenticity; originality/creativity; empathy towards others in the face of blanket stereotypical oppression: i.e. oppressing people for being a certain gender or skin color or religion rather than what that person said or did; learning; family and the joy of youth--; advocacy and support of people of color esp. women; rational and respectful debate; fresh air; nature in the city; the sound of rain; world-folk-jazz-hip-hop-blues-pop-edm-acapella; singing; writing; being silly; CATS; TV stuffs; Sci-Fi; fantasy; growing; loving; rebelling; winning; failing and joking about it later; yummy foods; and most importantly my mom, sis, niece, and brother in law---

I grew up in a small town with single mom/bi-polar dad all over n struggled hard early on. i had to steer my life in the right direction with a crowbar. I still don't full know where I'm going but I'm getting better at riding the waves. Steemit has drastically changed my life for the better by giving me a group of women that I connect with, an outlet where I am rewarded and somewhat understood, and another reason to keep waking up in the morning. My life hasn't been THAT terrible but regardless I didn't have anything like this before. Not when i was sober enough to understand what I had. Thanks to the founders for making this place.

What makes your heart smile?

Kind of a weird question. I'm not sure exactly what that means. I feel good when I'm getting along with humans and producing cool stuff that I feel proud of or reading/watching/listening to creative inspirational works from a weird or unique perspective.

How did you get onto Steemit?

I have unrequited love for @edumurphy from Nigeria. He used to live in Boston and I checked up on him after he left. He knew that this place was a match for me. At first it was rough. I'm a sensitive kitten with sharp claws and didn’t find my spot right away. Thankfully he guided me to discord and make me wanna keep going. I wish he would post more because his writing is so epic and he deserves all the crypto dollars.

Where do you want to die?

Well my ideal place would be in the arms of someone very strong emotionally, caring who understood me, and who loved me. Could be cool if they made good jokes and sang nicely. Gender or age not defined on purpose. Hopefully by the time i finally make peace with "death" and the unknown.

What’s something you DON’T like about all this new technology?

Human interaction is SO much better than e-connection. However it’s a really good sorting hat for the most part IMO. I really have found people to be completely full of shit very few times. At that, there are liars who are good people and they lie in real life too for their reasons. So, only that i am connecting with amazing people that aren't here in my life every day to make breakfast with and fall asleep watching movies with or travel with them.

What mistake do you keep making and why?

I make mistakes constantly. I change ever so slightly but often fall back into unhealthy patterns often. My biggest mistake though, is not believing in myself.

Is there anything you wish you could unlearn?

Bad habits like emotional eating, being messy, and speaking before processing my emotions, the fake joy of binary love/white-horsed-knight Disney bullshit.

If there was something you could un-do, what would it be?

All the friendships I walked away from and burnt bridges with because I was too insecure to let them be the one to walk away. Hitting on/caring about people who didn't care about me.

Imagine that you magically have the ability to keep being alive without sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

WRITE, WRITE, WRITE and make music and go to all the events I was too tired to go to.

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve done that actually turned out pretty well?

I applied for Berklee College of Music and actually flew across the US by myself to go to college in a strange city with very little musical training under my belt at a top music school.

What makes your belly ache with laughter?

Puns, mean people getting pwned (okay I feel bad a little bit), great sitcom writing, intellectual humor, other stuff.

Tell us about 1 significant event in your life that really made you who you are.

The most defining moment in my life is when I stood up to my step-dad who was emotionally and sometimes physically abusive as well as a sexual creep. I yelled in his face that I could do whatever I wanted and that he was not my dad after secretly stealing money from his LOCKED money box (i cracked the number code). He then hit me so hard I flew from one end of our double-wide trailer to the next. It was from that day forward that I vowed to stand-up for myself and for others rather than hiding and folding under undeserving leadership. This has had both good and bad consequences! ~

What would be the scariest monster you could imagine?

Straight up-- ima say it! I don’t have to imagine. It’s Donald Trump and his parade of white supremacist/apologist yes-men.

What does Steemit mean for you?

I said it before. Right now it means pretty much everything. But that also counts for @minnowsupportproject @teamgirlpowa @VOTU and all the amazing people with #openmic and #sma I still wanna/do write even tho im banned for having bad grammar and being mouthy to the leader so @writersblock folks also make up much of my time reading and commenting and writing. at this point I am either on steemit or discord pretty much all the time. I sleep, eat, and breath this community now. I can't say I've ever really had that. Facebook/ MEH. Here I create AND connect. Not one or the other. Steemit and these communities make me a better fucking person point blank. I hope we all stick it out and become rich. SO @ned better not fuck this up. (No pressure)

If you could change your name, what would you change it to?

I used to hate my name. I changed my name 4 times in high school. Cleo, Jacinda Glass, Lisa G, and Limabean. I also later was gonna call myself L'rie something or other. When I date someone I also think about their last name because Garver is so devoid of cultural context. It’s supposed to be German but it’s not. But then my dad died and he named me so now I can't let it go. I'm technically married in Kenya but I refused to take his name n we aren't really talking again. sigh

Which person inspires you the most and why do they inspire you?

Not one person. @thekittygirl inspires me every day to be more kind and loving @MenO inspires me to create great content and try my hand at mental ninja instead of bashing my head into walls @aggroed inspires me to think deeper about my values and the line between fighting for justice and living in peace @stellabelle inspires me to work hard AF and take this place by storm. My mom inspires me to love myself and keep going even though I fail. My sis inspires me to work on my writing and be more financially secure. My niece inspires me to be mentally stable and love in the face of hate.

What are you insecure about?

hahahah you got a few hours? My weight is obviously my biggest insecurity and always has been. I was thin for two minutes in high school and even then guys called me fat when I wore belly shirts. Not being good enough. Being a drain on my mom rather than supporting others. Not doing enough good work to support others/being selfish/unwise. ? Speaking in public. Maybe those are the big arcs.

Describe your ideal life.

I live in a nice cozy apartment in a penthouse of a tall building that also has really cool architecture. The building is in the city that is full of nature and parks. There’s a roof deck. My house is full of smart and talented kids and a loving partner that balances work and play with me. I have enough time to write stories and music because I also have a nanny that helps take care of the kids. We also have a maid. My mom has her own house and a Winnebago. I might not be living in the US but we travel and visit and video chat often. My sis is a CEO of her own company and my niece is doing well in college. My dad never died and instead got sober and went back to school for something. We all travel and we all try to spend a large portion of our money on others. Hah. One can dream~

Have you ever saved someone’s life?

I don't think so? I'm not really a hero. I tend to panic during emergencies.

What do other people think is weird about you?

Lol. Everything? IRL folks think it’s weird I’m on steemit and that I have friends on the internet and that I talk about them out loud (ooh don’t tell! sheee has internet friends instead of real ones) My humor, my emotional variations and expressiveness, my food preferences? idk.

What do you think is one of the best things about you?

One thing I really like about myself is my ability to engage and learn about others. At every job I've had I find myself creating relationships that are deeper than ones made by my co-workers. I am very curious and it’s kinda one of my superpowers. it bleeds into everything i do and makes it possible for me to come up with new ideas all the time.

What’s one responsibility you really wish you didn’t have?

HA! Some might say I take on responsibilities that aren’t mine. I wish I handled my responsibilities better. I don't really want to give them away. Just manage them like a diplomatic bawse that gets shit done.

If you had a personal flag, what would be on it?

GIRL POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA n a kitty kicking ass.

If a genie granted you 3 wishes right now, what would you wish for?

Easy.

  1. Wish for granted wishes to only have pleasant results
  2. Wish for all my loved ones to have 5 wishes of their own
  3. Wish Donald Trump would be impeached without causing civil war
What do you think about when you’re by yourself?

I think too much. Most people learn this very quickly. I'm also physically by myself a lot but i think the same things when I’m with other people as well. What is life, who am I, what should i do with my time, buncha random shit, different variations on scenarios from life, what I would do if I was rich and famous (sad but true)....

What would you want to be written on your tombstone?

Don't fear death. Fear not living to the fullest.

Who is the person you trust most?

My mom

What’s your favourite word?

I hate favorites. I can't choose.

Who is your fave (or one of your favourite) Steemians and why?

I sorta already answered this in the inspiration but I forgot a bunch of people. Let me mention @zycr22 he is super smart but also down to earth. He’s really writing a lot of great stuff for people who like sciency things but hate reading science books. Also he has a big heart. I have said this before. Can't say it enough.

If you were arrested with no explanation, what would your friends and family assume you had done?

I wanna say one thing but honestly I don't talk to them about this stuff that much. They wouldn't believe I did anything wrong except pissed off the wrong person. They would know I was falsely accused or had a good reason for my crimes.

When you looked in the mirror first thing this morning, what was the first thing you thought?

My skin got purple from dying my hair purple and I need to clean my nose piercing.

What’s the most ridiculous fact you know?

Can't pull up any facts right now. I'm not great with long-term memory of facts unless im reminded which is why I lose arguments even when I’m right.

What is something that you just recently realized that you are embarrassed you didn’t realize earlier?

@techslut is f*king awesome and needs to be my friend.

What is your nickname?

@limabeing, capn girlpowa, LiMa, Lisa-Lou, LMG

As a Human Of Steemit, how do you contribute to Steemit?

Well although these are somewhat selfish aims I seek out curieable posts and send them to @carlgnash . I also upvote a lot of women and Africans and just cool sensitive/talented folks that don't get enough love or are new. I look for 2-3 new users almost every day that I legitimately feel their work is good. Sometimes I give advice and sometimes I just gush and upvote.

I have a space for self-identified women, genderqueer folks, and men that respect us and support us. I don't run it perfectly but I try to keep pushing us to a place where we can get more diversity in power on steemit. Right now there is only one self-identified woman on a witness in the top-20 and no women working for Ned a far as I know. I am working on my data about this. There also is not a great space for feminist voices and women who buck the system (regardless of not claiming feminism). teamgirlpowa is that space. Our discord channel has had challenges and time-management and agreement is hard with a group of opinionated folks of course but our love and connection gets more fierce every day. We are truly finding the happy place between riot grrrrl and "hey girl".

I also often speak and listen in the VOTU podcast led by @beanz I'm missing it to catch up on the backlog today. :( I am trying so much to support her work because she's devoted to making the blockchain a fair and equitable place for everyone.

Lastly I try to support folks in @minnowsupport project who are doing mazing work for minnows. I challenge them sometimes and they stay supporting me so that’s really something that everyone should experience.

Oh. And sometimes i sing and write stuff and make drawings that other people like.
