Beaver Attack

Weirdest thing my husband has ever said to me first thing in the morning: I think we had a beaver attack last night.

Sure enough, our neighbor's tree had the lowest branch gnawed off and it fell into our yard. We heard a crash last night and he thought he saw something largish running off, but we couldn't see the results until this morning.

I've lived my whole life in the Beaver State, but this is the closest I've ever gotten to one in the wild. I'm not sure if he was planning to dam up our creek (about 20 yards down the hill from the tree in the background) or what, but he's going to be sorely disappointed in his aims.
